A lot of people will like the page numbers displayed right at the bottom. Oddly I've grown fond of the percentage (which may be an option).

I definitely like having both options on a device. I suspect that the "no button" thing is a deal breaker for lots of readers, particularly special needs readers. (I would think the swipe is more annoying for lefties, too. I love my PB360 because you can orient it such that you can hole it with either the left hand OR the right hand, with no loss of functionality.) |

Speaking of highlights, I wonder if this will have the same problem as the NOOKcolor. On the NOOKcolor you can't move the beginning of the highlighted position. In other words you can't drag the first end of the highlight to the left. Unless this has been corrected in the latest 1.2 update. Haven't read anything about it.

Some thoughts on the last couple of days:
It looks to me like the market is converging on $100-150 price point, grayscale & wifi for low end EBRs. It does not seem to be converging on buttons or touch, though - that is, we now have Kobo with touch, Nook with touch & buttons, and Kindle with buttons. What I can't figure out is the future of 3G. Only Kindle has it right now, until you get to the higher cost iPads. Personally, I think that 3G conveys a real advantage for the Kindle; on the other, I think that 3G is keeping the K3G at a price point which is increasingly unsustainable. And I can't see anyone putting 3G on an Android tablet without a user contract. My guess is that 3G is going, going... I'm getting the feeling that Amazon's next move might be to drop the K3G (or the KWifi.) This would leave them with the lowest cost EBR - the KSO - with an ad-free alternative. And then, I think they'll introduce a 6 or 7 inch color touch pad in direct competition with the color Nook, plus a 10 inch color model replacing the KDX and undercutting the iPad's price. It does appear to me that Sony has lost the battle in the US. I don't see anything that the Sonys do that isn't done as well or better, at a lower cost, by the Big Three. |

To be honest, 4 of the fonts are sans-serif which I dislike for the base font and the other two serif fonts are really nothing special. I don't see why they could not let us replace those 6 with 6 of our choice.

AHHH! Understood. Thanks for pointing this out. Not a fan of the sans-serif fonts. I assumed it was 3 of each type. Darn!

But what happens to Sony will remain to be seen when October comes and we see what the next generation brings. Maybe we'll get a 7" reader at a 6" price. And the 6" reader at the 5" price. That would really sake thing up. But that's just a guess. |

My mistake. It is 3 & 3. But Cecillia is a lousy font. It's almost like reading Courier. The other two serif-fonts are nothing specials and the sans-serf fonts are just that, sans-serif. So they are no good by default no matter which fonts they are.
