Whoever did that nook demo has no idea how to swipe pages. He blundered it a few times. And he also spent way way way too much time touting the social aspects. Overall, a poor demo that would make me not want one.

But have you actually tried it on a Sony x50 Reader? It's not the same at all as say using an iPad.

In the Engadget video, we do see a lot of wasted top and bottom screen space. If this is the case, it would be a major deal breaker for a lot of people. But I'll finding out when it's released and I can bring in a few ePub to test it.

Probably. I'm asking because you can have two 6" screens (measured diagonally) with different heights and widths.

It's the same size as all the other six inch readers. I wouldn't be surprised if the display was the exact same part number in all the Pearl readers.

That might be due to the book being viewed. Some of the styles on my books have huge margins. Others bump up against the top/bottom and sides--which is how I like it. I like to have as much reading space as I can--I don't need wide margins. So generally if there are large margins I edit the ebook style sheets and re-upload to my nook. Hopefully the new nook will display the ebooks the same as the current one.

If I have to move my hand to turn the page, it's wasted effort and taking me that much closer to carpal tunnel. Hate it.

With my Nook Classic and my PB360, I read with my thumb on the page turn button at all times. Read, press down, read, press down. If I have to read, move hand, then ergonomics have failed as far as I'm concerned.

A simple "move thumb to touch side of screen" is too much to require; a full screen swipe (as some devices demand) is criminal as far as I'm concerned.

My Nook Color was modded to run Aldiko/Moon+ simply so I could use the volume button for this purpose.....

But, yeah, it's a YMMV thing.

The video shows that the reader offers 3 margin settings, as well as 3 line spacing settings.

Similar to the Nook Color, then.

I wonder if you can turn off page swiping? So hard to highlight a word when the device is trying to swipe for you.

I was thinking the same thing, it does have that 'feel'.

i agree, especially after seeing the Cnet video . It's almost like a tale of two devices.

I almost never use the buttons but prefer to swipe to turn the page, feels more natural to me like reading a paper book.
