In the Engadget video, we do see a lot of wasted top and bottom screen space. If this is the case, it would be a major deal breaker for a lot of people. But I'll finding out when it's released and I can bring in a few ePub to test it.

It's the same size as all the other six inch readers. I wouldn't be surprised if the display was the exact same part number in all the Pearl readers.

That might be due to the book being viewed. Some of the styles on my books have huge margins. Others bump up against the top/bottom and sides--which is how I like it. I like to have as much reading space as I can--I don't need wide margins. So generally if there are large margins I edit the ebook style sheets and re-upload to my nook. Hopefully the new nook will display the ebooks the same as the current one.

With my Nook Classic and my PB360, I read with my thumb on the page turn button at all times. Read, press down, read, press down. If I have to read, move hand, then ergonomics have failed as far as I'm concerned. A simple "move thumb to touch side of screen" is too much to require; a full screen swipe (as some devices demand) is criminal as far as I'm concerned. ![]() My Nook Color was modded to run Aldiko/Moon+ simply so I could use the volume button for this purpose..... But, yeah, it's a YMMV thing. |

Looks like they're using the same fonts from Nook Color too. Actually, the whole device seems very Nook Colory, just in black and white. ![]() I wonder if you can turn off page swiping? So hard to highlight a word when the device is trying to swipe for you. ![]() |

I almost never use the buttons but prefer to swipe to turn the page, feels more natural to me like reading a paper book.
