book designer problem with vista os - Page 10

I think that the unregistering and re-registering of that file that Jon had you do is unnecessary. Brian didn't do it and I didn't do it and Book Designer works fine on both of our machines. Really, the wiki should be written up following Brian's instructions, though if Jon wanted, he could (and probably would) substitute putting the Book Designer some place else besides Program Files, and also using the MobileRead Book Designer downloads. Everything else could be left as Brian has written.

Not sure how much you'd have to write about negotiating the command prompt. It was a mystery to me before I started, but maybe to most everyone else that's old stuff.

Perhaps the unregistering and registering of that one file should be listed as the last thing to try if in fact someone can't get it to work then...... if you don't have to, why do it.........

I am just glad I got it, although like I said, I hardly add the pictures but it's my *wanting to know* that made me persevere. I am sure the guys who write/wrote that up will figure out how to do this. Or people will have to nudge like I did.......still a learning experience for sure.

Now I want some Chocolate!

Sorry, I always have a problem with the name Brian and type it brain, don't ask me why........... bad me.....

And I keep forgetting we can *edit* out posts as well....... which is nice, I just have to remember it's here....... don't find that on a lot of boards.

Just wanted to make mention and if anyone is still reading this thread, I just downloaded and installed SP1 today and book designer still seems to work with all those little changes we made and this Vista SP1 update......

Trust me, I was very nervous about it, but I did some research and reading first and figured, it's going to be forced on us in april or may and we have no choice ???? either way, all seems well....... I cleaned up the system with crap cleaner, I defragged, didn't have anything running while it downloaded and I turned off my antivirus as well. Whole process for me took about an hour with three reboots...
