Does CM7 require an SD card?
If I install it on emmc, do I still need an sd card in the nook after setting it up? Also, does it still have deep sleep problems?

No... kind of, for security reason many apps can only see the sd card. So if you want to run apps like kindle, RepliGo, Moon+ then you need a card.
You can launch some applications from the Filemanager but it is kind of awkward to always open a file that wasy. =X= |

Sandisk is probably the best choice but also the most expensive. I went with a Patriot class 10. Make sure you get a minimum of a class 6

If you're only planning on using it for storage, any SD will do. A higher class card will let you copy files to and from it more quickly, but will not improve performance. The extensive discussion of uSD cards for the NC only concerns their performance as a system drive--running CM7 or other ROMs directly from the card. A class 10 card is definitely overkill--nothing you do on the NC will max out even a class 6. The only devices that really benefit from class 10s' higher large sequential r/w are high-speed, 10Mp+ digital cameras.
...Sandisks are generally seen as the bargain brand, cheaper than cards of the same class by companies that made their name in PC RAM, like Patriot, Transcend, PNY and Kingston. Sandisk class 2 and 4 cards get recommended for the NC (and Windows Mobile phones) only because they have unusually high small random write speeds, which improve their performance as system drives. For storage, it really makes no difference. |
