I, OTOH, love the Sony 950's touchscreen and wouldn't consider buying an ereader device without it. Everything is easier with my Sony 950 than it was with my Sony 505, not that anything was particularly difficult with the 505.

I agree, I love the touch screen on my 650; love other things about my K3. The combination would be a good thing. =)

As long as they leave the physical page-turn buttons on it (the Kindle itself, I don't care about a tablet), they can "touch it up" all they want.

Yes. Until yesterday, the Sony x50 series were the only readers that used that touch screen technology. There are several different touch screen technologies, which you can skip reading this summary of (I know you don't Wiki.)

Being enamored with the IR touch screen on my 650 I hope it happens and would make such a Kindle a serious contender for my next e-reader. Hardly a day goes by without several double-taps on a word to instantly look it up in the dictionary. And I now like the page turn motion (since I don't have to "press" at all).
Don't forget the Sony still also has page turn buttons if you're a touch-phobe. I would want those on a Kindle as well. There are times when I still use a button press (oily/buttered/jellied fingers for example). |

![]() Dictionary lookups and navigation aren't a factor for me. An infinitesimal fraction of my time is spent doing any of those things. I open a book, and read one twitch at time until the book's done... then I open another one and repeat. I never have more than a handful of books at any one time on my reader. So, the advantages of a touch screen would be wasted on me. So go for it Amazon... just don't deprive me of my buttons. ![]() Last edited by DiapDealer; 05-24-2011 at 07:05 PM. |

My 650 is sharper than my Kindle 2 and my PRS 505. I gave my 505 away after I saw the screen on the 650. My K2 is now the reader I'll drag around and not worry about.
What kind of Android do you have? It sounds like an internal problem. Even electronics w/ real buttons sometimes have trouble responding. How many times have you had to take the battery out of your basic cell phone because it wouldn't respond to any of the buttons? If anything, the failure rate is less in newer electronics, unless it's new technology. |

In Canada, the pre-order price is $139.00 ... fwiw ... a $9.01 difference.
![]() The Amazon Kindle 3 is $139.99 + shipping (no free shipping in Canada) AND the charger is an extra $20 (or $10 if you are lucky to notice an offer when ordering) PLUS Amazon does not support logs in Canada or games or leading magazines like New Yorker and charges $8 more for the New York Times subscription than Kobo ... Oh, and Kindle's eventual support of public library lending also does not apply to Canada. Plus B&N Nook is not sold or supported in Canada. And Sony only sells the 5" PRS-350 in Canada ... for $199.99. In point of fact, you get quite a lot of value for Kobo in Canada. |
