Every brand wants the level and intensity of devotion Apple has, but I've never seen another brand actually pull it off. Closest analog might be the console companies, Ninty, MS, Sony, but even there however intense a defense of a company the fans put out, it doesn't carry quite the reverence that Apple fans manage. To wit, the Apple fanatics are real people, not just forum trolls. I've met them in real life.
Android has devotees and trolls as well, but Google is no Apple. Right now there's a row among android fans against Google over a series of 'openness' issues relating to closed source apks, drm, partner deals et al. When Apple screws its customers, the fans not only don't complain but they seem to feel honored to have been of service. |

Bingo! When Apple screws up, it becomes a feature. When Google screws up, Google is being criticized. It is my impression that the Android fanboism is more of a reaction to Apple fanboys outrageous claims than anything else. A "I really cannot let that one go unanswered" type of reply.
And as a user of iOS, Android, and WinMo I do sincerely believe that for phones Android is far superior to iOS. Speed, functionality, efficiency, etc. It may take a year or so before Android's tablet OS will also be that far ahead of iOS. |

I agree about the lines. But each of those were high demand items that soon had long wait times and high prices on the secondary market and became best sellers.
People do it outside best buy and target and walmart on black friday too. And I think that that is equally asinine. |

I don't know Rock, , I think Apple could paint a brick silver, slap an Apple logo on it. and those tools would still line up for days to buy the iBrick. I'm dead serious. I honestly don't think it really matters what they launch. If Apple builds hype their fans react. |

My wife has two iphones, 3G and 4. Just a short disclaimer, I am still the one who has to help her with using them. The 3G had to be repaired twice, the 4 broke down after just one week. Among six iphones her close friends use four had to be exchanged, one even twice. They usually don't have repair services, just exchanges at outrageous rates in Asia. Fortunately 3rd party service is available, or you can buy parts and do it yourself. |

I don't see any religious veneration in an Android convention:
The difference between a clut and and a religion is the transfer of authority. A cult can not acomplish that and a religion can. No one debates that Christianity is a relgion since new pastors, priests or what ever you call them are ordained all of the time. Caltholics are able to appoint a new pope. The second photo is of a previous conclave. Apple corp has trasnfered authority from one CEO to another a few times thus Apple qualifies as a relgion. Anyone care to debate. |
