True. But I never really believed she was sick in the first place, which is what lead me to do so much research and to be open to the idea of trying a different Vet. Although it was never the norm to ask a Japanese doctor what the treatment or medicine is going to be, this has been changing over the last 10 years, so when the Vet was reluctant to tell us the names of the medicines it made me suspicious.

It's not a cultural norm to formally complain in Japan, although this too is changing as Japan evolves from a "village society" into an "apartment society." Things like this would traditionally be handled word-of-mouth. And gossip has ALWAYS been the norm in Japan, so the word will spread...

Charging a service fee on a credit card is illegal under US law. If you find a merchant who's is charging a fee, you should report them.

I know there used to be a credit card charge at places that preferred cash -once upon a time, but as Dylrob says, I do not think that is allowed anymore. The debit charge is usually precessed as an "ATM" fee.

@ Blues: sorry to hear about your apricot trees. When the tropical almond tree in front of my house was cut down, I cried for a whole week (embarrassed, but I was little at the time)

now, the rant:

I remember when there used to be two separate prices for gas, one for cash and one for credit. I think what a lot of places are doing now is setting a minimum purchase amount for credit card transactions.

This week we are having record breaking 90+ F temps.

This week my 8 going on 9 pound 6-month-old shaggy kitten decides to be a lap cat!

We're both sweating! But happy!

I'm really gonna miss Missy, my brother-in-law's basenji. They don't pet her and want her to be a yard dog. But I loved her into being a pet! She waited outside for me to play with her every morning.

When you get all settled down again - adopt yourself a dog! Or find a neighbor's dog who need some loving!

We got here at 2:00, then saw (and rejected) two properties before the realtor got finished at 5:00. Then went grocery shopping. Now we are in our hotel in our personal double beds after watching Am Idol. I've got my own comfy little bed.

Comfy beds are good. Also, basenjis are cool little dogs. I saw a show about them on Animal Planet. Poor little thing.

So, my Nano finally died, the poor, abused thing! The lock/unlock button appears to have broken and it is stuck on "locked." I do have a Shuffle as well, thank goodness but it is hard to listen to an audiobook on a Shuffle.

Oh, yeah, I haven't been able to get these supposed urget updates to the stupid Windows Vista that runs on my computer to go through!

After Hurricane Fran, I was without electricity for almost 2 months - and temps were hitting the 90's F. My older somewhat obese cat Spot still wanted to sit on my lap at night while I was reading - even though we were sitting in darkness by a camp lantern in sweltering heat & humidity. She kept climbing on & I kept relocating her next to me on the couch, but she wouldn't give up - she was a lap cat! One night she got so frustrated at being relocated that she climbed onto my lap, wrapped 4 legs around my thigh and held on as hard as she could with her eyes shut.
What could I do?
Boy, did I ever sweat, but she slept happily!

I use the Sansa Clip+ and am very happy with it. It works great with audiobooks and last about 14 hours on a charge.
