calibre 2 opds and moon reader
I am trying to get calibre synced with moon + reader on my android device. I tried to create a opds database using calibre 2 opds and uploaded it to drop box, but when I try to use it in moon reader, moon just comes up with the first page, but gives me the warning nothing found whenever I try to click on anything. Anyone know how to fix that?

I know nothing about Moon Reader and do not have an Android system to test with anyway. I therefore have no idea how OPDS compatible that reader is. However if you want to PM me the URL for the top level of the catalog (do not post it here in a public forum) I can have a look to see if the catalog looks valid. Also, what compatibility mode were you using when the catalog was generated - or did you just use the default of OPDS?

I downloaded moon+reader tonight to give it a play, and I have my dropbox database configured for aldiko. Well from what I can see it works better with moon reader than it does with Aldiko :-)
I had assess to all the pages and I downloaded books without any problem. So just set the settings on calibre2opds to Aldiko and rebuild the database, you should be fine |

Interesting that Moon+ Reader works for you, while I have reports that others have issues with it. I would be interested to know if Moon+ Reader needs any compatibility setting at all? If it is fully OPDS compatible it should work with any of the compatibility settings.

Sugarsync and Calibre2opds is a no go, right?
So I have Sugarsync and I was going through and saw a thread where someone was trying to get Calibre2opds to work with Sugarsync. Is my assumption correct, that this does not or better yet, no one to date has been able to get this to work with Sugarsync?
I somewhat followed Jane's web tutorial for installing Calibre2opds (it needs massive updating) and I am now showing Authors, Tags, Series, All books, etc. Looks like everything is there. When I click on All books, I get the Catalog Error: error reading catalog data. Please try again later. I feel like I am halfway there and some small thing is preventing me from seeing the catalog. I have the URL pointing to my _index.xml file so not sure why the catalog is not coming over. THoughts? Has anyone been successful with Sugarsync? |

For SugarSync to work with Calibre2opds it has to support a URL for the Calibre library folder, and then allow all the files/folders within that (including the calibre2opds catalog and all book files) to be accessible relative to that URL. I have not found a way to set up SugarSync to work in that manner.

Thanks itimpi for the answer. I guess I have two choices at this point:
(1) Use Calibre server to serve as catalog (not to happy about this since I have to leave Calibre running on home computer but better than nothing) OR (2) Move entire Calibre library over to Dropbox which we know works. |

If Moon Reader+ ever gets CSS to work, that'll be my reader of choice, right now I download the Calibre library through Aldkio and move it to the B&N library.

chilady1: YOur options sound correct.
If I notice a change regarding SugarSync I will post a message. It would ne nice if SugarSync worked as their free account allows for more space than the free DropBox account. I personally use calibre2opds to generate a catalog that can be run from the Web server built into my NAS box as I also do not want to leave a home PC running Calibre server on al the time. My NAS box is not capable of running Calibre server directly as it does not have the resources. |

On my NAS it was only a question of using its GUI to configure the port and folder to use - the rest was pre-supplied. Many NAS systems come with this caoability now-a-days - but I am guessing you do not have a NAS (Network file server) in the first place?

I am not sure I understand the question! You need a device with a browser and a network connection to use a calibre2opds catalog. As far as I know the only Sony that meets this requirement is the PRS-950.
If you simply want a catalog that can be loaded onto the PRS-350 via USB then you should use the Calibre facility for creating an ePub catalog. |
