I have a 650 with 1.0.00.14080 FW, so I've been waiting for this version of PRS+. I just installed it and everything went smooth. Thanks Kartu!

Could you actually answer my question about whther you used "LRF Text Scale" addon? I don't know what "base flash" in case of 350 is. Quote:
Just extract everything from the zip (with something that doesn't lose folder structure when extracting, even standard windows explorer can do it), go to PRSPInstaller folder and delete prsp. Then reboot. |

LRF Text Scale: Yes, as mentioned in one former post, after installing the PRS- beta (which seems to be OK in the first step) I played around a bit and changed one of the LRF-options (50 for the XXL). Changed it back to default a couple of minutes later after rebooting. Nothing special happens that time I guess. base installer: I#m using Winrar, did everything right (folder structure ok), deleted PRSP and rebooted. NOTHING happened. Additional things to mention: I used even a second PC to sort aus reasons related to the computer itself. It seems that the reader after flashing with PRS+ beta lost the ability to make some action on itself (?) or don't admit overwrite the firmware. I found a reflashing package from PORKUBAN: http://projects.mobileread.com/reade...ckage.orig.zip That worked well! Now I have the old original SONY firmware on the reader. BUT: The reader refuses to be flashed with the new original Sony firmware again! Strange: It' possible to put your PRS+ Alpha on the Reader. But even with that it's not possible to update with the new SONY flasher (which worked very well before the troubles begun). A. Last edited by Analogus; 05-18-2011 at 04:17 AM. |

analogus : I had the exact same problems (update finishing in error) when I tried flashing on my mac, using Parallels Workstation and a Windows 7 image. What's your environment ?

I use(d) WIN XP 32 and Win 7 64. On both environments I tried to manage to flash the reader. Did you manage it in the end? |

Well, in my case it was a known issue with flashing a Sony Reader in a virtual machine, which is not supported. I just wanted to check that you didn't have the same problem, but it looks that it's something else...
Good luck ! |

I'm considering two options to resolve it: 1) add "reformat" action 2) remove LRFTextScale addon altogether, as it's causing too much trouble When I was testing it, I've just checked that pages are rendered correctly, but didn't really check if they were cut off at the end (my bad). This could explain "disappearing comments". Quote:

I'll prepare "*setup.exe" that would do it. One thing that happens when you put it into standby is: BookHistory might try to save the changes (if there are any). I'd try to see if disabling BH resolves the problem. Last edited by kartu; 05-18-2011 at 05:16 AM. |

kartu: I'll try disabling BH, but I'll wait for the next version now that I saw the warning message on the project site...

Disappearing comments:
No, all comments, bookmarks have been physically deleted at restart. Not only one time but on each restart. That’s where the troubles begun. I suspect it's more of additional checks in standard installer code, just changing .dat file doesn't seem to work. Exactly my suspicion. Hope there will be a way around. After the action with Borodas firmware I stick with the old (Ver. 1.0.00.08100) Sony firmware without possibility for updating to 1.0.00.14080. But I’m not sure if even that is fact. I there would be just a plain 1.0.00.08100 on the reader – why is the installer refusing to update? And where eventually hides the hack for the font scaling if it is still somewhere on the reader? Because just changing prspver.dat file doesn't work anymore it seems. I'll prepare "*setup.exe" that would do it. Would be great. I hang on you… ;-) ![]() A. |

I'll discuss the matter with guys who are into reader internals/Linux. Quote:
PRS+ files reside in the partition, not accessible to the user, used for storing dictionary files. This part is not touched by the installers (at least so far) but if you do the "PRSPInstaller with deleted prsp folder" thing, it will be removed. Last edited by kartu; 05-18-2011 at 05:58 AM. |

Question: does PS+ still reside somewhere on the reader even when reflashing back with the uninstaller (when it would function) or with the reflash-package from boroda?
So at least I'll wait for eventually solutions to come. Thank you for now. |

I have a PRS650.
Yesterday I decided to try the latest PRS+ 2.0.11beta. So I wanted to take my reader from firmware 1.0.00.08100 to 1.0.00.14080 Originally I tried PRS-650 Updater from the PRS+ {roject site and it failed. Tried multiple attempts. Reader kept rebooting afterwards. So then I downlaoded the firmware from Sony's site directly and it failed. Tried multiple attempts. Reader kept rebooting afterwards. Then I thought to pop out the SD Card and the reader would boot but the about screen still had PRS+ and firmware version 1.0.00.08100 I tried both installers to 14080 again but both failed. Next I tried the original firmware updater on boroda's site. That worked first try and I was now at firmware 14080. Thanks boroda! After that getting PRS+ and the russified firmware unto my 650 went smoothly. The only thing is sometimes if the SD Card is in when cold booting the reader it goes into a loop. I thoguht deleting the Sony directory it creates on the SD Card solved this but sometimes it still exhibits this reboot behaviour. Also in the previous PRS+ version I was able to open books directly off the reader. Now it wants to copy it to internal memory first. Not a big deal tho. If I had 1 request it would be a reboot reader button. If that would be possible that would save a lot of wear and tear on the power slide button. Thanks for all your hard work guys. And Please keep it up! ![]() Bill |
