Well... if you have a lot of room in your house/appartment and money to furnish it with nice shelves I think you always can keep the dead-tree variety of books. For me they just eat space... and I'm still sexy =P

A couple of things:
1) First I am very pleased with what early 21st century technology can do for me and I am very fustrated by all of the things that I would like to do but 21st century technology simply can't deliver. I would love to do more with technology but as Tony Stark once said "We are limited by the technology of our day." 2) I am very fustrated by those throwbacks in our society that are tethered to yesturday's technology and have no appreciation or vision of the future and what 21st century technology can do. Deadwood books and book cases are relics of the past and have no place in the home of the 21st century. They cost too much and take up way to much space with technology we can do better. Prior to learning of electronic reading I accumulated a library that will boggle your mind, in the basement I have all sorts of dead wood books, however that past is over I am going with the future. 3) Nice looking book cases are not really relevant or an option in the home of the 21st century. I have no use for them anymore, take them away, I am cutting ties with the past, forward to the future. My home is the most technologically advanced on the block making use of all maners of 21st century technology to make things possible that will boggle the mind of my neighbors. Not only am I streaming movies to my HD TV I am streaming the whole internet to the same TV, I would go with 3D TV but they cost too much as yet. I am looking into introducing VOIP and taking out that 1800s technology that is landline phones. Going to put in internet radio which differs from traditional radio in that the stations are streamed from the internet and reception is irrelevant. On my hip is an employer provided blackberry that is cutting edge and does everything for me except scratch my head, blows my mind what this thing can do. My moto is: Cut ties to the past and set course for the 22nd century warp factor seven. |

pfffffft. I strongly disagree with that article. If you're looking for a chick magnet, spiffy new electronics and cute little puppies are both far more effective the shelves stocked with 5 inch thick books that nobody would ever voluntarily read anyway.

I'm a man, but that is an article insulting women, in my opinion. A book won't get you a blow ... you know... from a woman. Your ability, as a man or educated person, to talk about a topic or any book, will seduce a woman, that's for sure, but has nothing to do with holding a book that you have not read or if you are just pretending. And if that happens, the woman is basically as ignorant as you.
Moreover... "a paper brain woman" will be seduced probably faster if you are holding a $600 iPad than a pbook. She will be probably be looking for your money and is a no brainer that electronic devices are not cheap. Now, this is 21st century. We can't stop technology but learn how to live with it. I do not think pbook will disappear altogether but having a huge collection of pbooks to impress is not just silly but ignorant. You save trees with ebooks and you can also save space in your house. It is also faster to find a book if you use a management or database for your collection. I do not buy ebooks to look smart but "feeding my brain" ... I have a theory about string that I'm thinking of writing up as an ebook for that very reason. It involves cats, but I can't say any more about it at this stage. Not with Blackadder here.
