NC accessories

I've had my NC almost two weeks, love it, but find it has a few little problems, ie - too heavy to hold for long periods, screen gets smudged and finger touching can be imprecise and frustrating.

So I bought the following:

RooCase with stand (very nice!)

Comes in several colors, and they also make one that stands in portrait mode if that suits you better

Targus stylus

Not perfect but a definite improvement over using my finger

and what is so far my favorite, the Arkus Portable Fold-up Stand

works *very* well. My sore wrists are happy now!

What are your favorite accessories?

I would definitely get the Color Nook screen-protector kit that B&N sells. You get 2 screen-protectors, plus a micro-fiber cloth. The protectors cut down somewhat on the glare, but most importantly they make your finger glide much more smoothly over the surface of the screen, giving it a slight texture that makes it work better, IMHO.

I did not buy the screen protector kit for the Classic Nook, because you seldom touch the screen, but with the Color Nook, it seems to me like a very good thing to use.

I, too, have bought the screen protector kit and it is very useful. I hated the idea of smudging my screen. I also bought a faux leather case for my NC and it does make it easier to hold as I am reading. One more thing, as RAH pointed out, the protector screens do cut down on the glare, so if that is a problem, one is definitely called for.

I totally agree about the screen protector. I feel that it has made my touchscreen more responsive and less jumpy. I was going crazy trying to keep the shiny glass clean for no reason at all.

The RooCase mentioned by OP has an easel feature that works in Landscape but, as the NC reader operates in Portrait mode, it would seem to be useable only with kids books or magazines. Is this correct?

I went with this case: http://www.javoedge.com/reflexeshop/...71&pbmId=18384

It just arrived today, so I can't say much about how it affects reading comfort, but the stand works well in portrait or landscape (you might have the cover flap sticking off to the side in landscape). With it in my hands, I'm a little worried about how the faux-leather material will wear, but I'm very happy with the minimal bulk of the case and the firm hold of the magnetic clasp--not difficult to open, but it should stay closed in a bag. Magnets hold the stand flat against the case, too.

An anti-glare screen protector is the only other accessory I'm after, and maybe a 32GB SD card (I have a 16GB now).

Re the screen protector, does anybody know from where B&N sources them? I'd like to find out if they have one that'd fit the Acer tablet.

As I said in my original post, they make one for portrait mode as well.

I use my NC primarily as an Android tablet, so the landscape mode works best for me when I'm out and about.

At home I use the Arkus stand, which works both ways.

Does that stand have that "grippy" rubber stuff on the upper support arm?

It has grippy stuff on the upper arm, bottom legs and on the indents where the Nook or other tablet rests. It's very stable and very adjustable.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll get one. My Color needs something small, portable, and inexpensive.

3feet stand

I found a 'new' accessory at a college bookstore yesterday - the 3feet stand. Very nice - holds my Nook Color securely, even with the Oberon cover folded back.

The web site is http://www.3feet.com. There are videos of how it works in the help section.

Final bonus - for us mechanical geeks, it's fun to play with!

Now all you need is a wireless or voice activated page turner

Hm. It seems to have only 5-star reviews on Amazon, which makes me suspicious.

And it doesn't look nearly as secure as the Arkon stand.
