bluefirereader://nav/transfer as well as the instructions: 'Pressing' the above hotlink opens Bluefire Reader in Transfer mode, with a set of instructions. Note the Bluefire instructions & User Name & Password on the Bluefire Transfer screen on your iPhone & leave Bluefire running. Open a browser on your PC: http://192.168.2.197:8080 Enter the User Name & Password given on the Bluefire Transfer screen. Browse to the location where the book is stored on your PC & select the desired publication, which will then be loaded onto your iPhone. HTH Oooops.... just noticed the missing : (s) in the bluefirereader://nav/transfer (s) above. Now corrected. Last edited by mallard13; 04-16-2011 at 01:04 AM. |

![]() Here's a QR code leading to bluefirereader://nav/transfer for those who use that method of transferring books. It's probably easier to save a bookmark than to scan a QR code, but at least it looks cool. To the interested, this code was generated with QR-JAM (Japanese). The books aren't being corrected for by the QR code's built in error correction, but are actually a part of the code. Last edited by Vague Rant; 04-15-2011 at 03:59 AM. The long answer: If you are in the situation where you need this work around (jailbroken iOS device), you already know where to get Backgrounder. The "what" is obvious from its name -- it's a background app manager (aka, proper multitasking). For whatever reason, Bluefire's usage of iOS4 native backgrounding and jailbreaking just don't play nice. The workaround utilizes Backgrounder to shut off the native backgrounding that Bluefire uses, which eliminates the crash because there's no longer a backgrounding conflict. Also note that this bug apparently happens even without Backgrounder installed, so it's a Jailbreak issue rather than a Backgrounder issue. |

Hi Micah I have a request!
I think it would be great to have the night reading mode also apply to the table of contents. At the moment if you are using night mode in low light and open the contents page you get blinded by the White background. |

I just don't get it. Why not fix the bug in Bluefire that causes it to be useless on a jailbroken iOS device? txtr does not crap out and cause a reboot. iBooks doesn't crap out and cause a reboot. In face, none of the apps I have do that except for Bluefire.

ipad2 with nook purchase and using bluefire reader
The below works great but if you are not sure, for the credit card you must use your cc on file with b&n.com and not what is on iTunes (if of course they differ). Thank you for the post!!!

It has been over 3 months since Bluefire was last updated. Considering the lack of features and bug list, that is a long time. I am beginning to wonder if the developer has given up on it or is over his head. I hope not as it shows promise.

I'm a little surprised that apple doesn't exploit this in their own apps to discourage jailbreaking.

Sweet.
I just got notified that a book I had placed on-hold had become available. When I downloaded the the ascm file from mobile safari on my iTouch, it automatically opened the Overdrive application. Reading on that program was slow. I moved the ascm file to dropbox and it then asked if I wanted to open it in Bluefire or in Overdrive. It opened, dowloaded and performed flawlessly in Bluefire. Love it. |

We have been very hard at work on building an Android version, and ik looks now like we will finally ship it in June.
Our iOS app took us 9 months of hard work. Android about the same - with some overlap. We've also integrated the 9.2 update of the Adobe libraries into Bluefire Reader for iOS. This lays the groundwork for us to add additional languages, hyphenation options, an alternative renderer with Open Type-like typography features support and the ability to authorize the app with private accounts (Vendor ID) vs Adobe ID, and other cool stuff. It was a lot of work. We also added support for the Apple in-app purchase system API's. All that said, I want to make sure we maintain our high quality bar, so we'll ship updates and the Android version when we feel they are ready. Last edited by Micah; 05-12-2011 at 02:48 PM.
