So you are one of those. I hope that you realize that you could just pirate the books and have the same impact on the economy. Plus it would be nicer for the people that are actually there to buy books if you weren't in the way.

There's nothing worse than going to a book store and not finding a seat in the cafe because someone chooses to read the book at the store instead of buying it or renting it at the library. The same goes for people that read the magazines and leave them on the tables. Seriously?!?

You must be living quite a sheltered life, I take it?

I would like to revisit jbcohen's observation that he has found zero correlation between price and quality.

I have certainly found that to be true for music ever since I was in college forty years ago. My favorite records have almost always been found in the bargain bins (I like jazz, by the way), and the albums I've paid full price for rarely are among my favorites.

@crossi I wouldn't have the jam to read an entire book in a bookstore if I was so inclined. Not worse than pirating but basically the same thing. Do you crack the spine or dog ear the pages while you are at it? Seems a violation of the end purchasers' rights to a new book even if you are careful. Surprised the bookstores allow it.

It's an expression. Obviously there are much worse things in life.
