Hi Kartu,

I created an installer of PRS+ for a PRS-650 following the instructions of the web. It creates a folder PRSPInstaller. I copy this folder in the root of a SD and this is inserted into the reader, but does nothing. How is installed on the PRS-650? is different of 505? How do you build the installer. exe for installer de PRS+ in to PRS-650?

Hi surquizu,

may I jump in?

Procedure for x50 is different then with our 505.

There is
A) the all in one windows setup programm...
but it is not capable of handling the latest Sony firmware and can't handle custom installer builds
so there is
B) you have first to "russify" the reader. (Main reason is: Both CFWs (boroda or amutin) provide a startup-script executed during boot)
Then there is a "launcher" script which will actually setup PRS+

If PRS+ is already installed, you put the "PRSPInstaller" folder into the root of internal memory and simply restart the reader, to get the newer version.

Unpack this to internal memory.
Delete "data" and "prsp" subfolders in PRSPInstaller folder.
Restart your reader.

Hello, and pardon me for butting in, but I have a question about what Mark wrote a few posts back. Do I understand correctly that I can install PRS+ on my 650 with FW 14080 now, without waiting for the next version of PRS+?

Just some quick questions.

1 - Since the last firmware for the 950 was released back in December, is the latest PRS+ version compatible? The fw version is 2.0.00.11300. If not, would resetting to factory default switch back to the old fw, or is russifying the only was to go at this point? I can always just wait too lol.

2 - I love my Collections, and how Calibre works so great with the reader to automatically create them. That's one item I don't want to lose. Does PRS+ affect this feature and how it works with Calibre? I can't really tell watching the video.

The only thing I'm dying for is the ability to use a folder structure to sort and read several technical PDF's. Right now, it adds them to my library like a book which actually makes it almost pointless for me to work with them. I would have to give them titles that would take up three lines of space to sort them correctly and make it possible to find the one I'm looking for. Not exactly the ideal solution lol.

1) It is compatible.
2) Collections are there. Even though they are removed from the main menu by default ("Periodicals" are replaced by "Folders" and "Collections" by "Book History") you can put them back via "Menu Customizer" options.

There is nothing special about PRS+ <=> Calibre (to my knowledge) that you should be wary of. Well, besides the fact that if you use "disabled scan" feature, but that's rather advanced topic)

"Folders" support "sort by filenamem" with filenames shown instead of authors, which might be handy for you. (as usual, you can change it via PRS+ Settings menu)

I'd just like to say thanks for PRS+, I know how much work this represents, so kudos to everyone who made this possible (incl. the nice russian fellow on the-ebook who would not read this message).

Next important step, IMHO, would be custom dictionary support, because Sony has not included "simple" foreign dictionaries (e.g. FR definitions) and this sucks.
