Haha thanks! Those really made me chuckle. I'm so tempted to repeat this word for word just to see what they would say.

Note: Someone just reminded me of a shadow of a memory. Do dogs really not have a hot taster (or whatever it's called)?
I do believe that dogs have the "hot" receptor in their taste buds. as a chilie head coming from a family of chilie heads that have had dogs that became chilie heads in self defense I know we have put down some hot stuff that took the top of our heads off that the dogs backed away from. I think your little guy is just in puppy hood and eating anything. also if you used louisiana hot sauce or something similar, that's not hot. BIRDS! on the other hand do not have these receptors. people that want to keep squirrels out of their bird feeders mix in HOT chilie powder with their seeds and that is effective

I do NOT recommend that.

Repeat ... I do NOT recommend that. As I said before, these are your parents, and the believe what they are saying. Show them the respect that they deserve, but...

You might wish the change the wording to make your approach a bit more gentle...

I used a fairly hot jalapeño/chipotle powder mixed with oil on the raw wood. He probably thought that I was giving him a treat. Poor baby.

The really bad part about his chewing is that he likes plastic cords. As in computer cables. I hope that we don't find him next to an electrical cord. But we do try to keep a sharp lookout and don't let him run free when we're not home.

Talk about red tape and bureaucratic pay offs! Wow! This place has raised it to an art form.

A few weeks ago I bought my wife a car. And it's been paperwork and pay-outs ever since! Before you can buy a car in Japan you have to prove that you have a parking place for it. There are plenty available, but your have to rent them. Cost is about $150 USD per month. Understandable.

But before the dealership could process her paperwork, my wife had to secure the parking space and get "the official paper" from the space owner. That cost $150 for the paper... Just to have them sign a paper.

Then she had to take the paper to the police to get them to acknowledge it. That cost $50. Just to acknowledge that they saw the paper.

Then she had to bring both papers to the dealer who charged $250 to bring it to the Motor Vehicle Department and get another paper to begin the dealer process... Originally the dealer wanted $500 to get the parking paper and get it approved but my wife discovered on the net that she was allowed to do that part herself, saving $300 by doing 30 minutes work. Anyway, that was last month. She's supposed to take delivery at the end of next week.

I can remember going onto a car lot in California, handing them money, and driving out with a car...

well, my mom was able to make one of her famous comments about gay people on mother's day. i was not inclined to wish her a happy mother's day after that :P

right, and according to her, a mother cannot give her son too much love in case she makes him gay. or heaven forbid that a boy be too close to his mother, because apparently, that's a dead ringer that he's gonna be a gay, or, to celebrate her knowledge of a new word, a sissy. right. good thing mother's day is definitely over.

This is why i got myeslf disowned. Far more simple than getting upset about my mother's opinion on my life.

i don't think i'd ever want to be a mother myself. one of my acquaintances does, very much, but that's because her parents are normal and happy and are still fulfilled :P

and you know the funny thing is? lately, she accuses me of saying hurtful things to her. i would gladly have apologized sincerely if she only knew how much more hurtful her insensitive words are :P

When I lived with parents I was always accused of saying bad things to them, too

And now when I want to say something good to them, hug them tight...

Not only ignorant and envious, but they probably think that if gay people will have sex with someone of their own gender they'll have sex with anyone which, of course, leads to porn.

Those were great, I don't have anyone to quote them too or argue them with but I liked them just the same. Now, if only I could remember them for those rare occasions when I need them.

I don't think parents have a monopoly on hypocrisy, I think just about everyone is fully capable of only seeing the things they want to see and only thinking about how they effect themselves. Hopefully, over time you can reason with them or, at least, get them to not make the comments in your presence.

my parents, i think, are hard-core believers that they are always right. they're traditional chinese parents, and really, even when my mom does apologize when she's wrong, it's always in an airy way, and she doesn't tolerate "drama" :| over time, i've learned to hide it better. there's no reasoning with them. they're already set in their ways. i just leave their room when it gets too much :|

bleh, i think what irks me the most is how suddenly everyone becomes like some sort of "moral compass" when it comes to degrading gay people and telling them they're "wrong".
i mean, i just don't get where they get off spouting that sort of hate. i especially hate that many people automatically equate gay people with pedophiles. ugh. disgusting.

ANYWAY. good news is that we get spaghetti for breakfast tomorrow so excited.
