Metadata fails to download

Using the latest version of Calibre (0.7.59) with the 0.8 tweaks enabled, and every time I attempt to download metadata for a book, it fails with the following error:

What's going on here? Is it an issue related to the 0.8 features? Versions prior to 0.7.56 downloaded metadata without any problems.

I don't know the answer to the first question, but you can find out if it's related to 0.8 code by unsetting the tweak activating that code.

Go to the metadata download preferences and uncheck the convert comments to plain txt option.

Hello ! Calibre 0.8.0 installed today, (last succesfully used 0.7.59 today morning)

i keeping authors as <LN,FN> and sort the same, as you can see below by error message (i colored red). When i edited author as LN only - before to download metadata - everything is ok... so... how can i bulk download metadata for few authors LN,FN ? i do not like to download individually... thank you !

Thank you, will rename 15000 authors slowly

You can use search and replace in hthe bulk metadata edit dialog to batch rename all your books
