Which to pair with a Kindle? iPad or iPod Touch??

My iPod Touch (2nd gen) experienced an unfortunate case of death by toddler, so now I'm shopping for a replacement. So what would make the better complement to a Kindle: a new iPod Touch or an iPad? An iPhone is off the table because I don't want to pay for phone service/3G coverage. |

I'd say the iPad. The 10" screen makes it an excellent large-screen reader.

The beauty of the iTouch is it's smaller size and therefore is always with me. cheers |

It depends what you want, of course. I have an iPhone, which is the same size as an iPod Touch. Although I have the usual array of reading apps on it (iBooks, Kindle App, etc) I rarely read on it because I find the screen too small for comfortable reading. I certainly wouldn't want to do any sustained reading on a screen that small. It's all a matter of personal preference at the end of the day.

How is the iPad for word processing? I have a macbook that I drag around with me and would love to have something a bit lighter.

No, I read on the Kindle a lot more. Its smaller size and light weight make it much more convenient to carry around, and I don't have to worry about needing to recharge it. I actually use my iPad primarily as a portable video player, but it certainly does make a very nice large-screen reader for when I'm reading at home. It's great for web browsing, too. I'm writing this on my iPad. |

Yes, I do/did like being able to just keep mine in my coat pocket instead of having to drag my entire purse around. It's a shame that one can't just magically make the thing double in size!

Like Leep, my iTouch 4G is always with me. Price is also a factor. Interesting dilemma.

ETA: Having something that will fit in my pocket, I think that's what I'm missing most about my dearly departed iPod Touch. On the other hand, I haven't used the thing in ages... Last edited by stickybuns; 05-08-2011 at 04:05 PM.

Yup, I'm thinking the same thing! Before the toddler decided to turn my iPod into a bath toy, I had planned to save up for an iPad. So, I guess the real question is, Which do I get FIRST? |

Do you have a smartphone? If so id go with the ipad first and let your cell phone replace the itouch for now. If not id get the itouch first.
