Have book covers show instead of just a list

There is another program for viewing ebooks called Alfa Ebooks Manager. It lets you view the covers by author instead of just a list.

This is more like how my print books are arranged in my book cases, and makes finding a book to read much easier for me.

Is there anyway to get calibre to list by book covers?

I much prefer using calibre at all times. Alfa ebooks has very limited uses, in fact the only thing I like about it is the way you can display covers. In fact, once I either find out that calibre already does this, or can be added, I would send payment right away! Because then calibre would be perfect!

I did a search and did not find any topics that covered this, if there is one, please direct me to it.

Thank you all in advance for any info you can give me.

There is a cover browser, see the icons in the lower right hand corner. Replacing the library view with a cover preview system has been requested before, but I don't know if it's on anyones todo list.

The cover browser is 'in Synch' with the Library list.
You can use either to move through the list/covers.

clicking at the ends of the cover browser, moves the choice

I can not believe I never saw that option before, thank you for pointing it out to me.

But, it is extremely slow! It's like connecting to the collection on a dial up. I realize that it has to load all of the covers, and I have hundreds. But ouch! It's nice to know it's there, but it is kind of worthless being so slow.

Thank you for your reply. I just hope someone has the time and inclination to make a proper plug-in for this in the future.

It's been requested for as as long as I can remember. The main issue is it doesn't work out very well when you get into libraries of thousands or tens of thousands of books. Also, users love their custom columns which wouldn't be shown using a bookshelf view. I know it's on Kovid's todo list but it's a very very very low priority.

Just drag the list view to the author your interested in and then check out the cover browser. It is really the best of both worlds.

As Walt suggested: Filter-Search for the Authors of interest.

The Up or Down arrow keys work really fast compared to a click in the cover browser
