Even better, I've received today an e-mail from Bookeen support with a very detailed procedure and links for downloading a kernel update and system files backup.

Hi Irene,

As you replied to my post in the other forum, you're aware that I've had a similar problem. But I'm not sure it's because I was fiddling with files, because both times it's happened, I was not connected to my PC.

In any event, I was wondering if you could post Bookeens procedure?

@ Azog: Post here, no, I'm sorry I can't, the message states it's "not for distribution". So I think I would have problems if I posted it. Plus, I'm not sure it would be safe for you to try this procedure, if what happened to your device is not exactly what happened to mine.

But don't hesitate to email Bookeen. I had an answer in about 3 days, so it's not a terribly long delay.

BTW, do you still have a broken display on your Cybook?

Did you try formatting the flash drive and copying the sytem files anew? I did that while I was waiting for Bookeen's answer, and it did the trick for me.

Help needed...

Hi folks,

I also managed to delete my CyBook system files. I red through this thread and sent Bookeen a couple of mails two weeks ago, with no joy. IreneDelse, I was hoping you would forward that email on to me if you dont mind?

Thanks in advance!

I'm running Boo Reader version 1.0 (Build 538). So, yes, Build 476 is a bit old.

What's different between build 476 and 538?

^ No idea but if there's 60 odd small amendments/fixes, even if nothing dramatically new, it might be worthwhile getting.

I'm emailing them now and will ask that very question!

Thanks Tulkas. I really am interested in what is different. So I can at least tell people this or that is fixed.

Well that's certainly a response time record (19mins from time of query!)

I've got the link to the latest build ~ 538 ~ no details of whats changed though

The key news however, quoting from their response...

"The first official upgrade will be released in March."

From my experience, the Cybook was less buggy with build 538 of the OS than when I bought it. So the changes were probably correction of minor but troublesome errors.

And thanks for passing the news about the upgrade.
