Anyway to get "Special Offers" on a regular Kindle?
You know all the debate about whether getting the ads is worth paying $25 less. I paid the regular price but I want the special offers. Is there anyway to get the special offers on a normal kindle instead of the dead screens?

Not at this point; but it's a good idea.

The special offers are exclusive to the Special Offer Kindle. They are offered as a perk to the people that are willing to deal with the ads. You can't have one without the other.

I think that might be travfar's point. How/When/Can one opt in for Special Offers (including the requisite ads) on a regular Kindle?

I'm more than happy to get the ads, I find that far more interesting than the dead screen savers. I consider ads a bonus, not a detriment. Amazon should charge more for them, not less. |

I'm sure that the option will be coming soon/eventually. Amazon probably needs to gather more market data (e.g., Is the ad revenue high enough?) and work out the logistics of having an opt-in/opt-out program.

I have a K3SO and on the Manage Your Kindle page, in my list of kindles (3 are on my account, only one is a SO kindle), there is now a column called "special offers" and for the K3SO, it says "on". The way they have it, it does give the impression that they might offer this for existing kindles at some point.
I'm wondering though - if someone has two K3SO on their account, could they take advantage of each offer twice, or only once? |

I would imagine that the special offers were specifically for that version of the Kindle. Don't see how or why they'd want to enable these things for non-SO Kindles.

For those who paid full for their kindle.. it is time for amazon to step up and let us use custom screensavers.

I imagine that the easiest way to get the Special Offers is to buy the Special Offer Kindle. I do not think that Amazon is going to open these up to everybody.. I also don't think they're going to give the ad option to everyone that already has a Kindle.
I would expect that people like me that purchased a SO Kindle specifically to get the special offers would be pretty upset if Amazon decided to offer them to everyone after stating that these are EXCLUSIVE to this Kindle. |

If everyone is required to have the same advertisement screen savers in order to access the special offers, how exactly are KSO owners being treated unfairly? |

I wouldn't be upset if they offered this program to other Kindle owners, because Amazon would install the ads on their Kindles too.

As far as I can tell, the biggest difficulty is figuring a way to best handle an opt-in/opt-out program. Does Amazon say, "OK, once you decide to download the KSO firmware, there's no turning back!" or "OK, those of you who saved $25.... there's no turning back! The rest of you can turn back!"?
