As I mentioned a little further up in the thread, the last we heard any sort of "unofficial" status update from the new company, they were continuing to work on the firmware. But it's been pretty quiet from them for a while though, and there were never any specific plans announced for what they intended to do with the firmware.

I did notice that Gertjan has started posting again recently, which is a good sign.

They are selling the units for Aircraft use loaded with maps for a good profit I believe. Both are available for that use and other industry applications. Here is an example http://www.solidfx.com/FX8.htm

SolidFX has been doing that since the DR800 was originally released though, it's not something that started under the new IRX company.
