What post's do you look at?
I usually don't look at the big post threads, with the exception of "What is in your cup" and a few others. I prefer the shorter threads (New stuff to read) and threads with news that Kenny posts. So what do usually look at when you browse? Choose all that aply.

Almost all of the above (I don't quite get the "not want to be seen" option).
I read whatever (whichever?) thread catches my attention, regardless of length/popularity. I do not usually read all the way through the particularly long threads, but, I will go back a page or two if it looks interesting. |

Interesting ones after those I've subscribed to have been checked.

I do not have subscription.
I check always and post frequently on the what's in your cup. I check always "light a candle". "What's in your plate". I glance at new threads and open them sometimes. Out of the lounge I check the reading threads. Some time post also. It is of great help the weeks' hot topic in the home page. I look at it almost every day. There are members whose posts interest me and attract me. Others that I avoid or ignore, and that will postpone my opening of a thread until some one else posts there. I am temperamental and extrovertely emotional. Technical subjects leave me cold. E-readers also. |

![]() Additionally I'm very interested in the technical part, so I'm reading the threads about (my) readers and most that is related to ebook-making. I've learnt many, many things here. |

She is obviously reserved about that, like you are, kind Sir.
Imagine if I leave a kind lady without support? Last edited by beppe; 05-01-2011 at 08:27 AM. Reason: added kind Sir to make it more ... whatever |

Sorry, but my thread reading interests roam all over the place. The length of a thread doesn’t affect me one way or the other. I’ll check “hot topics” only after I check the areas where I have the most interest, but not all that often.
When you have a long thread with many, even hundreds of, postings you’ll see a great many who have obviously not even read the OP, never mind even reading the last dozen posts before making a comment. Their out of context posts will often cause me to ignore the thread. Speaking of "out of context posts"; There are a number of people that I consider trolls (this does not refer to those with whom I simple disagree). Strangely enough I’ll check out the threads that they started to see what they’re like when not on the attack. I don’t think that I’ve ever posted a comment in the threads that they started. On the other hand, there are some active trolls whose minds are so closed as to be an alien life form. Reading their post would be pointless and a stupid waste of my time. Sorry for the digression |

Generally new threads but really any thread that looks interesting. If it is a long thread with a gazilli9on pages, I'll read the OP and then go to the most recent page.

If I checked any of the above boxes, I'd be omitting my most important consideration:
The pertinence of the subject of the thread. I tend to read threads that pertain directly to my interests, and often choose the most recent in the hope they might contain more current information. I tend not to read threads about general personal preferences, which usually contain little that pertains to my specific interests (though I did look at this one, didn't I?). I look at whatever comes up under "Today's Posts" that looks interesting. It doesn't matter if it's popular, new, hot or whatever.

I am not a lurker, exacrly. However, I only comment when I have something to say even if it is only "Ditto". I read MR daily, when I read the news.

New posts. Short threads. Unless it's a thread that is loosely held together, like the weather topic. But if I get back online after a night sleep and have to slosh over 10 pages of "new" (rehashed) posts, I'll probably ignore it from then on.
