Hi, Ea. This is is
![]() ![]() That's not a bad idea. Then rather than waiting to see which ones are in the lead and waiting to vote on the leading candidate of our choice, we'll be forced to vote on the one we really want to win. I'll second that one-month experiment. |

If Anna Karenina wins, I'm going to check eBay for a Classics Illustrated version.

I voted for WOTW myself. It's a classic story whether in print, audio, or movie form.

Oh shoot, I really should have "saved" my vote...
Well, I'll re-read 1984 anyway. AK? Nah, don't think so. Might look at the Garbo version of it though. |

Looks like Anna might drag her ancient Russian carcase across the finishing line first.

See...this is why John F suggested a blind poll! You're not supposed to save your vote, you're supposed to vote for what you really want, regardless of its chances. So, as much as I don't want to read 1984, (which was in the lead and could still get there again in the next hour), I am still happy I voted for War of the Worlds.

Well, I'm going to keep voting "un-tactically" in the future as well. It's not like anyone is going to force me to read the winner... or... is it...? <worried look on my face>
I look at this is good tips on what to read and I'll probably read a couple of the non-winners! |

its more suspenseful because you have to wait to see the results, like that exam you wrote and you aren't sure if you got everything down you wanted to and you sell yourself short and say maybe you pushed a 70-75 and you get it back and surprised that you got 85.
seeing the results before you can vote takes everything away, i think the votes (the ones to 1984 and anna) are a result of people viewing the results before then voting on one of the top 2 knowing the others now have zero chance. if you had to vote then see the results i bet you'd have a wider range throughout. |

Many of us have increased our TBR (To Be Read) lists, thanks to these Book Club Selection polls; that's half the fun. I hadn't even heard of Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc, Riders of the Purple Sage, or The Diary of a Nobody before this week. The whole point is to have fun, read when you what you want to read, when you want to read it. You can also start book discussions on any books you are interested in, outside of the book club. It would just be nice to have "honest" poll results at the end of the day. We just might surprise ourselves. Edit: What Siraks said: Quote:
