I picked up some Numi flowering teas on sale. right now I have the "Lavender Dream", white tea, lavender flowers and hibiscus flowers. VERY yummy! great nose!

Good morning, everyone! Another Thursday in Japan, and cloudy skies. I hope there will be no more rain for a few days. I planted some basil and marjoram yesterday and I'd like some warm sun to get the babies started off right!

Speaking of starting off right, I'm settling into a mug of Taylors of Harrogate's Yorkshire tea, a bowl of miso soup, rice, and tsukemono. I nice way to greet the day!

Every elementary school child in Japan has a little thermos of green tea swinging from his schoolbag as they walk along, often stopping at a red light and pouring themselves a cup! It's cute!

I recently read in one of the magazines I subscribe to, that green tea not only helps you lose weight, and losing a few pounds is something I could use, but actually deters gum disease. Just more incentive to continue drinking the green tea.

The Japanese are getting fatter and fatter every year. However, if you drink green tea instead of Coke, Pepsi, or Dr.Pepper you will stand a better chance of keeping your weight down. (Keep down, rather than lose) The magazines also say that Green tea helps prevent cancer... Japan is now leading the world in the rate of stomach cancer, and the local governments provide FREE stomach cancer checkups (complete with barium cocktails and x-rays) for everyone EVERY YEAR. I guess they don't believe the magazines.

I have tried buying green teas from other vendors than the People's Republic of Tea but have found it difficult to find a seller of comparable (in my estimation) quality. For those of you who also enjoy green tea, where do you buy it and what do you buy?

I started my tea journey with the Republic of Tea but have moved on from them. I find them to be too strongly flavored and I prefer to taste the tea. Keep in mind that I have about 6 flavored/infused teas at this time. I like the estate teas and the tea teas. So I drink Sencha, Bancha, and Genmaichia for my greens. I have some jasmine green but I don't drink it all that often. I have a series of Oolongs that I like, only one is flavored, my Bossa Nova.

I buy 90% of my tea from Tea Gschwendner. The rest comes from Gung Fu (a new discovery) and Teavana.

There is no one right answer for what store has the best tea't, it all comes down to what you like. I have some friends who love Lupicia but they like strongly flavored teas and don't understand how I can drink Keemun. (shrugs)

If you like Republic of Tea, enjoy it. If you want to try something else, we can give you suggestions for other stores that sell similar teas that might be a bit less infused with flavor.

I don't know if I snore or not? If I have a sore throat and running nose, sure I do, but if I'm in my best health... yeah maybe I still snore. Nope I don't know for sure. Ask my sister.

Ahmad tea. English tea nr 1. In my cup. I put a teabag in a porcelain teapot, half filled with boiling water and let it steep for a few minutes, until it was goldbrown. Taste: mellow. I like it.

Travelling in Iran is turning the clock some decades back. Like travel behind the Iron Curtain some 40 years back. The itinerary has to be approved of by the police and one cannot drive another road, or go to another hotel. Our driver has to check in very regular at the policeposts. Police are stopping cars quite often, to check on them. We cannot say to the driver: let's go over here or there....
In the visa of my passport is a microchip that has been read at the border and by the approved route and hotels, one always knows where I am. If the driver takes too long over his trip; he gets an inquiry from the police to ask what's the matter.
Yesterday we travelled over the sparsely habitated and barren mountains of the Albroz. Eternal snow high upon the slopes. A lot of constructionwork going on: roads and dams, as well. It was clouded and drizzeled a bit. Perhaps that is why this part of the country looks so poor and shabby. Puddles of water, half builded houses, a lot of garbage, practically no
dogs or cats to be seen. But friendly people....
Whenever I make such a trip the first three photo's on my camera are: my house,
daughter and cat Polly. When I talk to someone, that's one of the first things I show and then......ice is broken....I get to see their husbands/wifes/children/whatnot..We touch each other, yes even the men; we may be offered some freshly baked flat bread, or a cup of tea, but above all kindness.
We travelled along ricefields; they have a lovely tasting long grain rice, very soft but firm. In the lagunes fishers, all garbed in black from head to toe, threw huge nets, single handedly, in the water.
Today I'm at the border of the Caspian Sea, in Bandar-e-Azali, the foremost port city of Iran.It was once the harbour of the Russian Caspian&Mercury Mail- Steamship Company. i'm planning to see the beautiful Russian house facades and taste Klucheh Fuman, a Gillian cookie filled with walnut paste, fresh from the oven.
As for the food: till now I've had a lot of greens; all kinds of salads with koriander. Also an eggplant dish that resembles the Baba Ganoush I know from Syria. Last night I ate a salad, two eggs and flat bread. Yes, very healthy (ahem). Breakfast is tomatoes, cucumber, soft fetacheese ( delicious salted), eggs and flat bread.
Tomorrow we' ll be leaving for Astara, near the border with Azerbeidjan. The weather is nice today.
