I have just installed jailbreak, font and ss hacks on my K3 and it went swimmingly. I'm very happy with those lovely new fonts. It's great to be able to override the screensavers too. Awesome!

I am really a dummy on this. can you tell me which .bin files I need to use for uninstalling UFH and then installing CJK?

Can anyone help

I have a Kindle 3, WiFi

I have downloaded Jailbreak and Screensaver hacks onto my PC

I have copied them to my Kindle and then Updated the Kindle (one at a time)

I have created some 800 x 600 PNGs and put them in the Screensaver Folder

I have also created a blank Reboot and Random file (by copying and renaming the Autoreboot file).

I have Restarted my Kindle - three times now I think

But I'm still stuck with Emily Dickenson and her mates.

Is there something else I should be doing? Or should have done?

@Caca7: I'm not familiar with UFH, but, basically, use the uninstaller from the version you have installed.

@Manx Hatter: Did you happen to check if:

* The update process of the jailbreak & ss hack were successful
* The ss hack actually worked before trying to put custom images?

I certainly remember seeeing "Update successful" after the jailbreak update, not as certain about seeing the same message after the SS hack - but I think I did.

Didn't check if the SS hack had worked - because I thought I would need to have images in order for it to work.

Once successfully installed, the ss hack will display one that tells you the hack worked, if I remember correctly.

Did you use the wrong bin file for your Kindle model? Did you use the one for the correct model, but used the "uninstall" one instead of "install" by accident? I nearly did that last night!

Just tried again, making sure it was the correct SS hack.

And its worked, I now have some black and white photos of New York which I took last year.

Just a supplementary quickie

If I add more pictures to my screensaver folder do I need to do anything else as well, or will they automatically become a part of the library of screen shots.

Restart your Kindle through Settings.

Hello there for the great hack. It's very useful except that every time I restart the system (with Menu -> Setting -> Restart) the condensed font is gone, even if I have not switched font using Aa menu. And when I open the Caecilia_LT_67_Cond_Medium.ttf file (on Windows) I found the condensed version is the same as the normal version.

I like the condensed font and have tried many hours to fix this but no luck. Any clue?

PS: I have replaced new fonts (e.g. Sans_Serif.ttf) with the original ones from the Kindle UI (e.g. Caecilia_LT_65_Medium.ttf) by renaming the latter.

Also there seems to be a problem in the "Go to..." window, the buttons overflows the box.

@dz902: What do you mean by 'gone'?

And there shouldn't be any overflow in the UI if you use properly scaled fonts, the only one that might do this are the one in the _BIG font sets
