Which should i buy?

I have read many threads on various eBook readers. What I want to know is which eBook reader I should buy when I don't need to download eBooks from any website like kindle or Barnes as I have thousands of them in my PC. I just want a simple eBook reader with preferably 3g connection , long battery life , in which I can upload books from my PC.
Help me out please!

What file format are your ebooks in? Do you know if they are DRMed? That should help you narrow things down.

If you only intend to transfer ebook files from your computer to your ereader, you really do not need to have a wireless/3G connection as a usb cable will do just fine. I have a Kindle 3 with 3G, and I like its web browser for reading text heavy websites. I know that other ereader's have 3G (the Nook and the Sony PRS-950), but I haven't heard anything about them having web browsers like the Kindle.

Do you live in the U.S.? If what you really want is a low cost, no thrills ereader, then you should check out your local Borders to see if they have any Kobo readers on clearance. Mine had them for $60 the last time I checked.

It depends on what you expect from an ereader....I'm a student myself so have to use the ereader for textbooks. I'm using Sony PRS-650 (Daily Edition) and I absolutely love it. Making notes and highlighting is really easy, the screen is quite responsive (unlike other ereaders I've tried).
Also, I read you can export the notes to your pc, although I never tried - no need to as I like keeping it all in one.

3G ereaders = Kindle, Nook Classic, and Sony 950.

Battery life:

Kindle: 1 Month, limited 3G usage, 1 week with 3G on all the time.
Sony 950: 2 weeks limited 3G usage (I think that is what I have read)
Nook Classic: A week limited 3G usage

Souther,

Depending of how many ebooks you currently have and their current format, the best ereader for you could be one that supports the format that you have.

I would suggest Sony or Kindle, for epub or mobi (in that order) They are good readers and use most recent eink screen or technology, with good battery life too.

I am a big Kindle lover when it comes to eBooks. And this i think is mostly because of the long battery life this manufacturer offers.

My eBooks are mainly in pdf, lit, mobi & epub format. Also, I live in India. So, please help me narrow down to something which will work in my country without any technical problem, as no one will be able to rectify any problem if it occurs. My brother coming from USA next month, he will buy me one when I tell him which.

If you are computer savvy you can convert any of those formats (epub to mobi or mobi to epub). The kindle has a great battery life and 3G (although I don't know if it works in your area). I chose it for the ergonomics - I like the page turn buttons on the side of the unit. Since the function you will most often be performing when reading is page turns, think about how you might prefer to do this. If you think you would like a touchscreen, go with the Sony.

Hmm...

You don't specify how many of each format you have. On that case, I would recommend a Kindle 3. It is an international device (means, is sold and supported even outside of USA), great battery life and native PDF support. But if you rely heavily on PDF or that format is important for you, a Sony is a better alternative; in my opinion, Sony ereaders are better for PDFs.

But overall, I like and prefer the Kindle. It's not just a good device supported by a big online bookstore but has a very competitive price than Sony can't beat.

I would take Nook 1st gen. out of the question. No native PDF support, poor battery life and even when you can use it there, was marketed for USA customers so buying books can be a problem if you don't have a valid USA address or credit card.

First off Joe you just need to stop posting anything about the Nook, you inital biased and hatred towards Barnes and Noble is really getting to be too much. People come on here looking for help not your biased distortions.
The 1st generation Nook most certainly does natively support PDF's and I have many novels in PDF's on my 1st Gen. Nook that came out fantastic and has text reflow, where the Nook's PDF's fall short is more in manuals and other Text Book type of docs and maps and such. For novels it's actually quite nice, So please stop, you do this all the time and I for one , am EXTREMELY tired of your distortions.

Also you can buy books anywhere on the nook that sells, PDF's and ePUb so again Joe your little "ommissions" just lead to confusion. To the OP - it's only buying books directly from Barnes and Noble where you need an American Address. Any online bookstore that sells your books in ePUb format or PDF format you are all set.

But to answer to the OP go with the Sony, it'll have the strongest international Support.

Back off! And I mean it!

This is a free forum that you don't own; I'm really tired of you making all this personal and keep saying that I have something against B&N. I don't have to justify my posts to you, but I spend lot of money each weekend visiting a B&N store close to home and even buying ebooks for my Android tablet. So stop making comments without any base whatsoever.

All people here are entitle to give their opinion. If you don't like mine, move on and ignore it, simple. Also, stop harassing me and replying each and in all comments I made. Kind of a big chance that every time I post something, you're also there.

There are not biased statements on my post: the Nook 1st generation has poor battery when compared to other eink readers like Sony or Kindle; does not support PDF natively and officially, has not being marketed for non USA customers. I challenge you to point what of those are not true.

I'm really surprise that moderators keep allowing you this behavior. I don't do personal attacks here so I demand same respect for each people here as well.

As far as simple goes you can't beat a Kobo, there is one simple button that does everything.

Is that really simple, though? I was watching some car tech review last week, and the host went on about the entertainment console with one simple button. Except in practice, that meant having to remember that up-up-right-down-right meant X, and up-up-right-up-right meant Y. In practice, having a dozen buttons with decent labels and distinguishable by touch, would have made the whole process less cumbersome.
