Oh cool - I thought maybe it was a book specially engineered for me. Did you write a review anywhere? When I added a review to Smashwords and Amazon it was the first, so I was thinking noone else had read it.

and judging by your reply I think your advice is worthy, since your thoughts about those books are nearly the same as mine. I will re-try Mistborn and Songs of Ice and Fire later. Quote:

I gave up the first book of HP before the end of the first page - something in the style of writing didn't grab me - perhaps unfair to judge after so few sentences, though perhaps my interest wasn't in it. And yet the films have been reasonably good .... |

But the Riyria Revelations really gets better with every new book. I finished Changes by Jim Butcher last night, it was really really really good (FYI, it's about wizards, magic and lots of supernatural elements, my kind of thing ). I started Side Jobs this morning, a collection of short stories about Harry Dresden, the main character of the Dresden Files series. The final books (Ghost Story) should be published some time in June ... I can't wait!

yeah that happened to me when I first read it, but just at the beginning. how far are you? the story should get better in the middle, or near the ending Quote:
yeah, I think so too I gave up HP after some chapters and still think that was too quick to judge a book

Have to say I can't blame you. I have only picked up on HP through my daughter listening to the audio book versions, and it sounded like rubbish to me. I'm not a big fan of schoolchildren playing with magic, to be fair.
