Has anyone found a way to get the literati to connect to hidden (Nontransmitting) ssid networks?

Hi all. Happy Easter.
I'm having an issue with my Literati that I can't seem to find an answer for using Google. I've been using my Literati for about a month now, and have been steadily adding my eBook collection over to my SD card using Calibre. Everythings been working just fine, but now my Literati won't recognize any new book since I've hit 422 eBooks. Anyone have a bug like this or is this the intended limit? Also, how are you guys adding your eBooks? Do your series go into their own folder on the SD card or is everything just dumped right into the SD's main directory? I'm also noticing that there are three files per folder when i trnsfer them over to the SD card. an epub, a jpg, and a opf file. I thought that the eBooks were one single epub file? |

Why would you want 400 plus books on your reader? You have Calibre so why not keep them there till you're ready to read them?
I don't know of any limit but my guess is you've exceeded it or your SD card is full. |

If you are transferring from Calibre en-mass you could get extra files. You only need the ePub file. Erasing them could give you more space. Is the SD card full? Also check the main memory area. It is possible that the Kobo database has filled up the main memory area. Dale |

If it does have a limit then I may be returning it, though I wouldn't want any other reader either, just can't stand the flat dull e-ink displays on the other brands. The SD card is far from full. It's a 2gb card, and I'm only using about 400mb so far. |

Calibre reads my Literati as an azbooka, and even when I select Save Only ePub to disk (the SD card), it creates three files, and transfers over the three files. So I should delete everything other than the epub? There's plenty of room on the SD card, I'll have to check the main memory and see what's there. I did delete every book that came free with the Literati though..so there should be memory free to use, atleast I'd think. If it is full what do I do, if i can do anything? Edit....I checked the onboard memory and there was about 50mb left. So I went and deleted every file other than the ePubs, took out the SD card, tried doing the Restore Factory Default option....now after reloading the SD card it's showing I have 165mb used of the onboard memory. Didn't know that the onboard memory was used for anything except ebook storage. I'll try adding more books later and see what happens. Last edited by Praxus07; 04-24-2011 at 08:25 PM. |

The limit is due to the card not the reader. I'm guessing that as a 2GB card, it is formatted using the Fat file system. These have a limit on the number of entries in the root folder. It doesn't matter if it is a file or a folder. If you move everything up 1 folder, then it's fine. There is no limit within a folder. Just make a folder called eBooks and move all the folders there. Or you can reformat the card to the NTFS file system. No limit there.

Hmmm....I had the card originally formatted to FAT, then I did run into issues with not being able to transfer over files after I hit the (unknown to me) FAT file limitation. So I formatted the card to FAT32, and that alleviated the file transfer issues. Guess I'll go ahead then and try doing what you suggest and format it to NTFS and see if that makes any difference. Thanks for the info!

FAT32 is the correct formatting for SDHC cards and by extension earlier cards. NTFS is not supported on all platforms and is more complicated with more overhead.

If you are using FAT32, there isn't a limit on the number of files/folders you can have on the root. It looks like you are hitting some other sort of limitation.

Still having problems connecting to wifi. It will connect if I transmit the ssid but if not transmitting it will not connect.
I've read the last firmware fixed that problem - I have that firmware, it did not fix the problem. Any ideas? |

Literati Problems
Hello; I have just received a Literati e reader and I have a 1 gig sd chip for it. I had some e books in .pdf format on it but the reader wouldn't read them. I copied some of the files to the Adobe digital reader directory on the Literati and I could see the files in the document reader only I could only read a few pages and the rest of them were blank. I have tried other directories and even putting them back on the sd chip and nothing seems to work. Any help in this will be greatly appreciated.
I have this posted at More-EBook-Readers and I have had a couple of suggestions, unfortunately I have already done them with no good results. I hope someone here can help me. ![]() ![]() |

If you could only read a few pages perhaps the document is protected. Did you transfer them via ADE on a PC? This is a must to read DRM protected files. Have you registered your Literati with ADE? ADE is Adobe digital editions and must be downloaded to your PC.

I am having almost the same problem except my Literati will show them under Doc's but I only get a small part of them. One book only let me read 8 and a half pages then nothing but blank pages. Sure wish I could find some help with this. I have done everything else I can think of or find suggested here and other places.
