Actually "O" is a distinct word, (always capitalized) acts as an intro for a noun in the vocative case, where as "oh" is an interjection. For example, "O Holy Night". It really isn't used anymore though, but is common in religious texts and other writings up through the renaissance.

If it were to be using "oh", the proper way for the sentence to be structured is "Oh, yes." The comma is required, showing the use of an interjection.

It could also be because maybe the LIT format version is no longer available. LIT seems to be dead.

Chances are when you have an issue like hyphens in the middle of words that the source for the conversion is PDF. And I've seen other errors due to PDF sourced eBooks. The first three eBooks in the Sookie Stackhouse series all had a problem with italics and all were PDF sourced.

I don't think it was implied that you did not buy the Lord of the Rings 3-in-1. It was more of his versions (the 1-in-1) did not have the errors. I double checked and the 3-in-1 has the errors you listed and the 1-in-1 does not.

John The Miner is most definitely trolling.

Please don't take this wrongly, but when I saw the post at the beginning of the thread, my immediate thought was: "some pirate versions would be better than that!" and I was disgusted that a mainstream ebook publisher could make such errors.

I'm not suggesting you pirated the book.
I have occasionally dressed up thus

and most books from the dark side are reasonable.

I'm not advocating piracy, just saying that if pirates can get it right, why can't more trustworthy sources of ebooks?

Is it possible that the publisher fixed the errors in the 1-in-1 and forgot to fix up the 3-in-1?

How can a reputed professional publishing company just forget to fix errors in a book as important as The Lord of the Rings ?
I am discombobulated by your inferring.

By "forget", do you mean "can't be bothered"?

Can you explain why the listed errors are not in the 1-in-1 but are in the 3-1-in?

Easy, they are separate editions... one was not produced in e-form from the other hence separately proofread (or not as the case may be) probably by different people with differing results plus the current all-in-one comes from the 50th Anniversary edition which was very closely proofread and error corrected (from Tolkien's own notes) to clear up problems from the first printing...

hmm It must be the publisher that forgot to fix the errors in the 3-in-one version.
I am outraged by that. I think I'm going to walk out of my place and punch someone in the face randomly. It won't fix anything but I'll feel better.

PS: If I'm not back soon I'm probably at the hospital from the wounds I will sustain from my encounter with that random person disagreeing with my trying-to-feel-better endeavor.
