turned out to be very nice day. we went to the puppy park after work, then came home and got the kitties *dressed*. we spent about an hour and a half down at the pond with the dog going in for a dip at least a half dozen times. needed to do it today as tomorrow it is supposed to get nasty again, and maybe for a while ;o(

It's been raining for the past two days, and that has forced the double blossom Cherry trees to come into full bloom. My street is lined with them and looking down from the verandah is just beautiful! Unfortunately, Japan is covered with electrical lines (Kurasawa, the film maker, said that if you ever see a movie about Japan and don't see electric lines in every outdoor shot, it wasn't filmed in Japan!) that I can't get a good picture of it from here!

Now that we have the red-eye reduction plugins workings, maybe it's time to start on the power-line removal tools. What say you? Can we start one of those coder funding thingies?

Removing the occasional power line is no problem with Photoshop, even the occasional power pole. But you need to understand the magnitude of Japan's above-ground power supply on typical streets...

Wires are so ubiquitous that we don't even realized they are there... until you try to take a picture!

Thanks for the pics, Stitchawl. I guess, I forget about the reality when thinking of Japan. I just seem to focus on beautiful countryside, cherry blossom trees, and temples.

Evening here and cool with a slight breeze. Very dark clouds and possible rain tonight.

I spend most of my photo correction time in Photoshop doing nothing but removing power lines from in front of temples, shrines, and across gardens. Often there are just way too many to try to deal with. It's such a shame as this place could be a photographer's paradise. Instead, we do a lot of crying, and moving around trying to compose a shot with as few power lines in it as possible.

As I said, looking down from my veranda is beautiful, but only because my brain automatically removes the power lines from my awareness. Unfortunately, they still show up on film.

By the way, I love your new avatar!

It's amazing how the brain can condition us not to see what our eyes actually do see. It takes the objectivity of a camera lens to remind us of what is really there!

Definitely .... and what is acceptable in one panorama is not in another - that too must be a 'brain' thing ....

I took this picture the other day, a couple of blocks from my house. One thing I loved about it was the open sky and the fact that it could have been taken 30 years ago and still looked just like this. In fact, I believe that blocky high-rise building has been there for longer than that. And the trains surely have -- my daddy was an engineer for Southern Railway, and he used to walk up to these same tracks and go to work every morning. I now live near those same tracks, but on the other side.

You're right, I forgot how we do start to overlook what is right in front of us all the time. Thanks. My little bunny has a tummy full of pre-Easter chocolate and is sleeping it off.

Thanks for the pic. It's nice when a view brings to our mind family memories. I hate all the development that happened in my home town, while I was away. I live just outside town now and make sure to drive home through all the orchards, just to have that relaxing open feeling I had as a child.

Cloudy, rainy, and cool today.
