PRS-650's are back in stock

The PRS-650's (black) are back in stock at sonystyle.com

Hope they got in a ton and the word spreads so all the entrepreneurs on ebay who are selling them for retail + $100 get stuck.

I've been looking for the past couple of weeks, and there are lots of listings where the seller has 9 or more and is selling for $339 and up.

I have the PRS-350 and SO wanted a red one, but of course they only had pink. I had a PRS-600 and if I did get a 650, I would want red. They have not taken the red color off sonystyle yet, so maybe they will get those back in stock too. I am liking the 350 though; real nice and light weight.

the red 650 is in stock, according to my check today. I'm SO tempted to get a black one. I'm trying to justify it.

I remember having mine on backorder at Myer Booragoon since Mid January...I ended up getting a 950 from borders instead :/

Booragoon were hopeless. I rang them first because I live in Mt Pleasant and they are the closest but the sales assistant told me they would not take orders. So I rang CBD instead and they took an order immediately.

I've been debating whether to buy one since Sunday night, when I first noticed they were back in stock. I keep getting to the last stage of checkout, pausing interminably, and signing back in.

On the one hand, I already have a 350 and a Kindle, and this would be the third reader I'd bought within a single generation.

On the other, I've tried it in-store and consider it the best of the lot. Love the SD slots, audio options, aesthetic of the enclosure, font size and security.

Realistically, I don't think I can justify it even though I co-edit a magazine that is published in Kindle form as well as online and is considering ePub as well. My best argument would be that the 650's more indicative than the 350 of what the average reader would see onscreen.

Then again, I could simply use Calibre in preview mode.

Since I have a Kindle I see no reason to get a 650. I did play around with a 650 when they first came out & they are nice, but i actually prefer my 350 for reading with & carrying around.

When I got the 350 I had been debating getting the 950, but I couldn't justify it since I have the Kindle. I like having both since there are still books I can't get anywhere else but amazon.

One can never be too rich or too thin or have too many devices.

Go for it and buy your black one. You will forever reget it if you don't and they are gone for good. See it as a spare, like I do. I lent my Italica, also a 6", to a friend who was interested in ereading and this is how I justify it. Attract new converts. I am wondering if I should upload the watch tower while I'm at it

Last night, I got these Email from Vanns.com:

Additionally, they have not announced a replacement eReader. We apologize for the frustration this may cause, and would like to offer you $10 off any future Vanns.com order utilizing the code "......" when you call our phone support at: 800-769-5668. This discount will expire May 1,2011.

I ordered a black one from Sonystyles on Monday evening and it was shipped yesterday. No indication that it is discontinued. B&H however have it flagged as discontinued on their web site.
Does not make sense to me.
