Finished reading Dauntless by Jack Campbell. I don't normally read military sci-fi, but this one was very good. It's only 293 pages long (my copy) and I found myself rationing the pages so I don't finish too quickly. I'm definitely going to be checking out the rest of the Lost Fleet series.

Now I'm busy with a re-read of Old Man's War by John Scalzi in preparation for tackling the rest of the OMW series. I still think OMW has one of the best opening chapters I've read in a long while.

I was wondering if I should read Hunger Games since Riyria was so good, I'm waiting (desperately) for the last book and doing a re-read to make sure I understand all the important points. But Percepliquis is nowhere to be seen, I'll give Hunger Games a try... on Saturday, when the mid-term tests are all over.

Hmmm - looks like Hunger Games isn't available to Aussies in ebook form. Pity.

Suzanne Collins did sell the rights to an Aussie publisher in 2010.

A little of topic... but as long as we're talking about the Hunger Games (I read the first one, my daughter read all 3).

I was looking for something else on IMDB and found a listing for The Hunger Games.

Thanks and here's a new one

Just finished Huckleberry Days of the 50s by Ralph Higgins. It's a delightful recall for many of us of our days growing up in the 50's. It's for the Kindle.

I know the author and he and I have reconnected. Regardless it's still a great read.

I'm now reading another of his books, Folsom Parallax a suspenseful drama with really deep looks at personalities. Also for the Kindle.

Which is probably why it's not available on ebook here.

I do know the paperbacks are around, but I'm really started to lose interest in paperbacks. It's rather odd, but I've started serious considering repurchasing my paperbacks as ebooks just so that I can be sure that I read them.

Yay for the authors I guess.

Regards

I haven't been on this thread in a while (man, life is just kicking my butt lately!), but wanted to share my latest read: "Paper Woman" by Suzanne Adair. It's a historical fiction novel, set in the time of the Revolutionary War. Very well-written with excellent characterization, imho My review is here!

My first time reading Lehane but it was a decent read. Set up the dynamic between Kenzie-Gennaro nicely but was pretty predictable to guess how it would finish.

Still I'd probably read the following books in the series.

It's more disaster movie than SF, really, but it was a fun re-read. It was interesting to see which scenes had stayed with me, and which had faded.

Spoiler:
Forrester's storage of his library, and the order for the protection of the nuclear plant stayed. Most other details faded.

Interesting the find the dismissal of the CFC/ozone problem as just another environmentalist hobby-horse.
