We just have to think about where our electronic devices come from and how they are made. Respect those who give their lives so that we may read anything and everything at all times. But we must never imagine our devices to be free.

I do wish you'd make your mind up... nothing is free, everything is free in the net, everything should be free, nothing belongs to anybody, everything belongs to everybody... aaagggghhhh

From teleread:

Quote:
I recently bought a $139 Kindle without Special Offers & Sponsored Screensavers and now I feel gypped. So I paid $25 more and I won’t get any of these nice discounts Amazon plans to offer owners of the new Kindle? That stinks. I wonder if they’d let me opt in after the fact. Seriously, this makes no sense. They should let all Kindle owners opt into this program, not just the ones that paid less than the rest of us.

I know prices are always subject to change but I really wish Amazon would have initially priced this new device at $99 or less. As soon as the Kindle gets below $100 they’ll have a mass market hit on their hands. I can’t believe I’m saying that, particularly since I gave up on the Kindle a year ago. Amazon has done some smart things since then though and this is just one example.

At what specific point along the supply chain are these deaths occurring? What specific components or steps in the manufacturing process lead to death? Do you have any verifiable sources to back up your claims?

And I am curious, if you genuinely believe--either because you simply speculate it to be true or you have found evidence answering my above questions--that ownership of consumer electronics will directly lead to another person suffering... why do you own a Kindle?

Do not bother me with trifles!

But seriously, this is a serious topic yes? To give Amazon copyrights when the manufacture of their copying devices infringe on the most basic human rights, its absurdity, and ludicrousness all rolled up into one big surrealist nightmare.

Even more, Amazon has no right to charge for a Kindle when ANY aspect of their manufacturing process infringes upon the rights of ANYONE.

This is just basic ethics here folks.

Well no, I have not personally taken trips to the mines where the components for our electronics are mined, nor have I visited the factories where our electronics are assembled. For all I know you could be a figment of my imagination.

This quote from Eugene Debs might cheer you up,

“While there is a lower class I am in it; while there is a criminal element I am of it; while there is a soul in prison, I am not free”

My apologies for thinking that you actually wanted your claims to be taken seriously. I presumed that you had some sort of NGO oversight reports regarding Kindle's component manufacturer(s). I will not make that mistake in the future.

I am still curious how you manage to justify owning an ebook reader if you think their vary existence is immoral. No need to respond, I already have a keyboard shaped bruise on my forehead from your previous "answers".

I think the KSO will probably be an okay deal for people like tubemonkey, but I don't think this is a case of Amazon giving away Kindles. I'm sure Amazon doesn't expect most people to come out ahead on the deals in the short term. A Kindle is a long-term investment, not a short-term one.
But because of the agency 6, that $10 won't buy much if they like books from the agency 6.

I know I should but I can't help myself.

Giggleton, what do you do for a living? Do you get paid for the work that you do?

Oh, I'd say he's a student who's been exposed to a handful of philosophy classes, probably ones early in the morning after a night of partying ...

I'd assume he made a goofy post with some slight basis in reality, and when people started jumping on it, he went full-on troll.
