It's a reciprocal agreement. Israelis aren't permitted to enter Malaysia either.

Who can understand politicians and their crooked ways of thinking? Probably a simple case of one country saying something wrong about the other, then the other banning people from the one and this results in a childish reaction of: if you do it to use, we'll do it to you too!

Malaysia is a Muslim country and travel to Israel is banned. As far as I know that is the same with many Muslim countries, I could be wrong about the other countries. My wife's passport has the following on the first page:

PASPORT INI SAH DIGUNAKAN UNTUK SEMUA NEGARA KECUALI:
THIS PASSPORT IS VALID FOR ALL COUNTRIES EXCEPT:

ISRAEL

That is as close to the actual text as I can make it.

I think he was referring to the countries major religion being Islam (Muslim), I could be wrong tho

Being Canadian does have its advantages, there are very few countries that I know of that require a visa before travel.

I don't know about Hare Krishnas, but there seems to be quite a few Jewish Buddhists in the United States. I don't know if the phenomenon extends to Israel to any great degree, but I imagine there are quite a few there as well. I imagine most of them are found in Reform congregations, as I don't believe the Orthodox would be so receptive to such a movement.

Quite right. Plenty of Buddhists in Israel. Plenty of Christians too. In fact, more Christians there than Jews! After all, it is the birthplace of Christianity. Israel hosts the worlds largest Ba'hai temple too. Quite the mixing pot. One would think that there would be room enough for all religions to co-exist there, but that doesn't seem to be the case...
