Look at this story in today's paper about the recent storm system:

I would never have believed that it would have regained enough strength to devastate North Carolina like that. Pooh, I'm glad you're okay. How about astrangerhere? Has she reported in since the storm? I think there are another couple of MR members in that area too. Truly terrifying.

NC suffered the effects of sunlight heating up the atmosphere in the early afternoon coupled with the jet stream injecting energy into the unstable atmosphere. NC's most devastating tornadoes have occurred around Easter & Mother's Day.

I've not seen any posts by astranghere since yesterday - hopefully it's just a case of losing power - lots of folk here won't get electric restored until Monday or later.

we were fine, actually. really heavy rain and wind, can't have been that much different than Pooh. power flickered, but never went out. I don't usually get online much on Sundays as its usually my only day off.

Mother Nature is really pissed off this year, and letting us know it all over the world. I'm glad to see that our NC residents are all accounted for.

Off to a sunny start here - will have a few warm/hot days (80's F), then more storms, repeat this formula weekly ....

Officially count now 62 tornado touch downs, 20 confirmed dead - in NC. Parts of SE Raleigh closed down today, including Shaw University.
