Mr M has a microchip. He had to have it when he was vaccinated against FIV.

Felicity has one too. She needed to get it so we could bring her into Japan. I understand that these days people are getting microchips for use in nightclubs in Miami so they don't have to carry cash or credit cards. The waiter just swipes their arm and the charges are added to their bill! Other folks are putting them into their kids! Probably won't be too many years before everybody is required to have them...

I saw a TV show once where a bloke chipped his missus and had readers(chip) around the house, so he could determine when she went out etc.

I don't want one. i have enough problems being asked about every thing without the spy aspect.

Get used to it, its not to many years ago that the company I worked for required you to wear an RFID tag, you could be fired for "Losing" the card. They could determine if you were in the office, what time you arrived and left, how long you were in the Lav, they could even workout if you took to long to eat your lunch, we weren't allowed to leave the building after clearing security. I'm sure if it were legal the Company would have chipped us all, then they could tell if we were in the bar to long, kidding mostly

ugh. it just reminded me of the chapter Revelations in the Bible, that's all :| i'm glad i live in a still somewhat technologically backwards country *shudder* i don't mind tags and such, but i don't want a chip INSIDE me. it reminds me of that Dr. Who episode, and his quote that human beings are so smart yet so stupid for trusting technology and essentially giving up their freedoms

Fact is, unless you've had a full body x-ray, and examined the film yourself, we really don't know if we've have been chipped or not.

I'm worrying about my internet-connection in Iran. I'm flying to Teheran next sunday. There seem to be restrictions on internet but I haven't been able to find out how and when or to what degree.

Vodafone has an agreement with two Iranian providers, so I'll be able to phone with my Blackberry. My Kindles and Mobile hotspot also have a vodafone sim-card, but will I be able to use them there? I mean; 4 weeks without internet would be a bit long.

In short: I'm getting a mild dose of the travel-jitters.

A friend of mine is living in Teheran and he complains a lot about the internet, but admits that it isn't much worse then Dubai (in the non-Media City free zone).

As long as you have email you should be fine, no?

Enjoy the trip, I hear Iran is a beautiful country, I have been invited to go spend time there many times, but I have never had the opportunity, when I can, I'll go. Be sure to get to the Caspian Sea, it is supposed to be very nice, and remember to bring your camera and send some pictures back here to us
