I'm trying to import collections from the Kindle into a custom column. I cannot find the import dialogue in Calibre. Where is it? I feel so stupid |

Use the plugin's icon on the toolbar, but you need to use 1.5.2 which is a few posts back and will be put on the first post tomorrow.

I tried Edit Collections manually and that also gives me an error. I than removed the plug-in from Calibre, deleted it from my hard drive, downloaded it again, installed it, restarted Calibre, and I still get the same errors. I'm using Calibre 7.55. |

				Test version 1.5.3 released

EDIT - file removed as version released Updated version to fix a bug where the plugin would fail to start if a book on the Kindle had no author, but the book was in Calibre and Calibre had multiple authors for the book. (If there is is no author - or title - in the book's information, like a PDF or text file, then I use Calibre's information. And in this case Calibre returned a list of authors when I only expected 1 author. PDF files may have author/title information but its difficult to extract). If you have run 1.5.x you may want to delete the file "kindle_collections_path_cache.calibre" on your Kindle first (once your Kindle is connected to your PC use your File Manager to go to E: or wherever your Kindle is connected). This is just in case the plugin cached incorrect information. @jangell2, @sfuller - thanks for the trace. Last edited by meme; 04-18-2011 at 04:09 PM. |

Does this test version work like a "regular" update? Will it get the plugin completely up to date, or do I have to go back and get the other updates posted, but not included in the installer? I'm at a bit of a loss. Right now, I have 1.5.0. (Calibre 7.55) |

Any time you install a plugin it completely replaces the previous version. There is no "incremental" updating required. So just download the 1.5.3 version from the post above and install it.

@meme Thanks to your plugin I was finally able to bring some order to my Kindle. Thank you! It would be great if you could expanding your plugin beyond collections, into a Kindle Manager. By editing the system/com.amazon.ebook.booklet.reader/reader.pref file it is possible to change the fonts (without jailbreaking and using the font hack)[1], change the margins [2] or the justification [3]. It would be great if you could add a GUI interface for managing all these options to your plugin. @imdqmznh - +1 for that suggestion for a future version. Much better than the user having to dig around inside hidden folders. Plus the values get reset when you do a factory reset/update firmware so would be nice to have an easier way to set them.

@imdqmznh - You're welcome. Interesting idea for the extra Kindle functionality. Although whether it should be a separate plugin or another option on this one is something to consider. I'll have a look when I get a chance. |

meme: When you use the import feature after there is already data in the custom field, you have to 1. run the import process which clears out the field and gives you the message that the collections were imported 2. restart calibre 3. run the import process which then writes the current collections into the custom field. Is there any way to get it to run the steps in one process or for it to give a message that says you need to reboot and re-run? The message it gives now is very misleading because the column is empty after running it the first time. Or if it cannot be run in one step, why do you need to restart calibre in order for you to run it the second time?? Nyn |
