Plug In Not Working?
Hello,
I'm using a K3, calibre 0.7.55 and Kindle Collection plugin 1.50. I followed the instructions to create collections from tags and added a "_" as prefix. When I preview it, it correctly creates all the collections, but it says books = 0, meaning no books are in any collection. I thought that was just a typo so I created the collections on the Kindle. Sure enough, all the collections are created correctly on the Kindle after the restart, but there are no books in any of them. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! |

I'll work on debugging these issues. It looks like a windows path issue, so for now I'll put the old version back on the front page.

Test Version 1.5.1 released
EDIT: file removed, replaced with later version.
New version attached to this post. Can you test it against the errors you saw. I'll wait to update the first post until it looks ok, and see if anything else pops up ![]() Fixed import for Windows, and Linux. The Windows bug was due to pathnames using \ instead of / like the Kindle and Linux. I had changed the code to key everything off of pathnames instead of codes. And I found another bug that meant the collections weren't being assigned to the right books so that's been corrected as well. Always the most recent changes... ![]() Quote:
![]() @Nyssa, thanks for confirming Quote:
However, this call is only made if you selected Delete in Customizations. Create is the usual action. Delete is only used when you want to clean collections you no longer want. Are you sure you're using Create as the action for the column? Quote:

The import Kindle Collection feature is working but now the Collections part is not, I get the message that says the books are not being included in a collection because of the Series column, here is a copy of the data:

Empty Collections
I just grabbed your plugin and it seems like exactly what I want! ... but when it creates the collections they're all empty. Am I doing something fundamentally wrong? I can still add/remove manually from the kindle or calibre.
calibre, version 0.7.55 Kindle Collections: <P>Preview report generated 3 collections.<P> Spoiler:

This must have been broken at some point because it was working but since I have gone back to 1.4.3 and I look on the kindle the series collection is gone. I will just remove it and try again.
Now it is working, maybe one day I will investigate to put the WoT collection back. |

Kindle Collection 1.5.2 works for me. It correctly created collections using tags and put the correct books into the collections. Thank you!

my original post:
Have the latest Kindle (3). Use the Create Collections plug-in with my Calibre program, organized by Author. After using this, noticed immediately that when there is more than 1 author: you must separate them by "&" in order for that book to be added to that author's collection. My dad & I email books back & forth to each other. But even if I edit metadata to include the &'s separating multiple authors and/or convert the ebooks........when I "connect/share" this book to him or vice versa....when they are added to Calibre--they revert to being separated by semicolons. Very frustrating to have to remember to go back and change the semicolons to ampersands. That is the only change that doesn't transfer over when email sharing through the program. Really wish they would allow the authors to transfer over as is instead of standardizing them to all be separated by semicolons. Is this even a possiblity for a future update? Any helpful comments are welcomed. meme's original response: When you say you have to separate authors by '&' in order for the book to be added to the collection, could you give a more detailed example. Its not clear if you are asking for something in Calibre to be modified or in the Calibre Kindle Collections plugin (if that's what you are using). The plugin (if that's what you are using) reads the Author information from Calibre. Calibre stores the authors as a list of individual authors. my reply: Ok, so I send the ebook to my device & create collection under the plugin. Eject my device & restart my kindle (per plugin instructions). If the ebook has multiple authors separated by [ ; ], it will not add that ebook to each author's collection. I have to change them in my calibre library to be separated by [ & ], then it will correct that. I just wish there was a setting under the calibre program that you could specify how multiple authors are separated when you add the book. Or the plugin could be changed. Just something where I don't have to go in and manually make that change for each book with multiple authors. |
