A fun novel about elves, bards and the modern world. It's a bit odd coming to it after reading the other novels, as most of it has been recapped at various times in the subsequent books. Nice to see it 'as it happens' though.

Next up: Another Agatha Christie novel, her 9th book: The Mystery of the Blue Train

Just finished the first Nero Wolfe novel; Fer-de-Lance by Rex Stout. Loved it. Did not see the ending coming.

I watched Malpertuis from Netflix last week. Apparently the book by Jean Ray (who has been described as a sort of French language Lovecraft) isn't in print in the US so I ordered a copy from AbeBooks.
The shipping from the UK was free and I'm hoping to receive the book this week.

The movie is apparently a simplification of the novel and mainly follows one character's story.

Just finished "Sweet Silver Blues" by Glen Cook. Pretty good. Switching back to Mr. Pratchet and "Small Gods".

A return to form after "The Big Four". Hercule Poirot again, but with a more reasonable plot.

Following on: Traitor's Sun by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Checking my records, I find that I bought this in hardback from Abebooks in January 2007 for £5.88. I didn't get around to reading it. I bought it from fictionwise in November 2009 for $2.38. And now I finally get around to reading it. Good so far.

Although, I fear I should be reading Exile's Song and The Shadow Matrix first... In fact, I should definitely do that. So instead I'll re-start with

Exile's Song by Marion Zimmer Bradley

(which I also bought in hardback (£4.63) in January 2007 and in ebook ($2.03) in November 2009)

Perhaps it's just that it's a series I really liked, but I was very pleased with this one. A good continuation of the Darkover series. I liked it so much I'm going to go straight on to

The Shadow Matrix which seems to be a direct continuation of the story in Exile's Song.

I just finished the audiobook of Drawing of the Three by Stephen King. I got into it a lot more than I did the first book of the Dark Tower series and really loved it. Also the reader did a great job, with different and appropriate voices for Roland, Eddie, Detta, and Odetta.

This is the first book in their (& Rosemary Edghill's) Bedlam's Bard series.
Note that aside from collaborations with Lackey, Rosemary Edgehill writes romances under that name. She also writes SF as "Eluki Bes Shahar". (See Butterfly and Hellflower, a lovely trilogy.)

And she has a mystery series set in the contemporary NYC pagan community , reissued as "Bell, Book, and Murder", whose heroine is is a member of a coven. Edgehill does a lovely job of walking a fine line, and leaving it up to the reader as to whether supernatural events really occur. (They might have been actions of the Goddess in response to prayer, and might have been happenstance. Your call...) And while I haven't traveled in those circles lately, she seems to have done a lovely job of capturing the feel of the pagan community and skewering a few of the more prominent and less likeable members.

Just started Sister Alice by Robert Reed. This is a bit out of my comfort zone but it was recommended so I thought I'd try it.
