I went to my local Best Buy today and the Sony 350 is selling for $139. I saw $119 on their site. So I assumed the $119 price was only for online?

I'm not confident about the PRS-650 anymore. I have tried so many places in the last few days and have had no luck. I contacted the Store in New York where I purchased my first Sony PRS-600. I just received an answer from them. "We have the Sony PRS650 readers listed as being discontinued by Sony" This is the only direct answer that I have received. All other emails have claimed that they are still waiting for stock!! Who to believe? I don't know whether to look at another brand or wait a bit more.

Oops -- the Sony Store just ran out. [Edit: They now have the 650 in red -- act fast if you want it!] But the fact they just had them (and other members can confirm this) shows that you only have to be patient and check the Sony store a few times a week and eventually you'll get one.

I hesitated because I thought it an extravagance to pick one up on the cusp of mirasol when I'd just bought a PRS-350. Otherwise I'd have grabbed one instantly.

Print out a copy and make them price-match with themselves. They did it for me.

Just got my 350 at a Best Buy store yesterday. I saw the price in the web at $119. When I got to the store they were $139. I asked about it, and they gave me the $119 price! Always pays to ask. They were out of the 950, and only 3 350s left.

I had the 600, and boy is the contrast nice on the new models. I am really enjoying the smaller model more than I thought. A friend has the 950. I think I like the smaller one better. Maybe get the large one on the next model upgrade.

As an interesting note - if you live in an area with "round 2" Borders store closures - I just snagged a PRS-350 there for $108 before tax (mine is at the 40-60% off everything stage, last week it was $125). They also had the Kobo for $59, but I couldn't cope with the 5-way button for page turns and everything else that button does (kept hitting the center of the button when trying to pageflip) so I grabbed the Sony.

Just thought it was worth tossing out there - though I will also note that the employees there said some of the closing stores are not marking their eReaders down. Additionally - if you go in and the price is marked down some (behind the checkout, it wasn't marked down at all at the display on the floor at my store) - ask them if that is the lowest/current price - they still had the signs up to say the Kobo was $70 and the Sony was $125. When I expressed interest in eReaders, the person behind the counter said something along the lines of, "Oh, those prices are wrong, they should be 40% off the original prices."

Just by the by, I brought this up on the Sony Forum (Europe, or England, don't know what its accessed as from US etc..) and was told (by a Sony "spokesperson", who seemed just a tad bothered ) I shouldn't bring up subjects about US situations as it bore no relationship to anything in Europe.

Good old Sony.

It said a lot more, I'll quote all of it if anyone's interested, but I need to set a bit of time aside - it's the slowest site in the Western, no the world.............. - I thought it was rather amusing.

I replied, in my ever polite manner, picking out various points - the main one being that this Forum is to help people from all over the world, perhaps a read of the site description might be a good idea.
