I got my Kindle just a couple of weeks before Christmas. I have 765 books in my calibre library. Of those, 26 have been read, 11 need "fixin' up", and the rest are on my Kindle. Wait, no, that's not quite accurate - I've read 3 books since I last updated my Kindle, so I've read 29 but 3 of those are still on the K3.

One of the reasons I keep so many on my Kindle is that I only update/sideload when I need a charge. In that sense, I've improved because for the first couple of months I was playing with my collections almost daily. I read a lot of different genres, so it's important to me to have a wide selection of both fiction and non-fiction available.

There was a period of time when the available freebies were lacking or were re-releases I already had, but now things are getting interesting again, so my obsession continues. Sickness? Perhaps, but in the realm of unhealthy behavior, I've done worse.

I'm at work so don't have my Calibre stats in front of me, but I have about 1200 books in it, of which around 400 have been read. That includes two magazines I subscribe to digitally.

Since I've been e-reading since 2003, and many of my eBook reads are library borrowed, that's only a fraction of the e-books that have been on my e-devices. I've read over 800 books in the last 5 years in Goodreads.

I have done a few purges. There were a lot of freebies from my eReader.com days that got ditched.

I'd like to have them all on my iPad, but I haven't found an App that can handle a huge catalog without bogging down.

I doubt it, because having fewer books on the ereader doesn't prevent the possibility of reading any of the books on the ereader at any time (you just think I should have more, fair enough, but "enough" is subjective), so that would have made no sense.

Fair dues fair point, but personally having a good supply of books on the reader just gives me that variety of choice, depending on my mood, seeing as I dont have the WiFi advantage you have on your Kindle

Ooh, you are good. lol I just pasted it into the little document I keep for pack 'n prep to go stuff.

OK, here's my 12-steps:

1. Buy ereader. Done.
2. Download Calibre. Done.
3. Re-read all my Lois McMaster Bujold books. Done.
4. Buy all the Terry Pratchett books. In-process.
5. Read all Jane Austen books. Done.
6. Hang around MR whenever I'm not actually reading. Done.
7. Search Google Books for whatever topic happens to cross my mind. In-process.
8. Download any books I find in Step 7. In-process.
9. Read all books by Charles Dickens. In-process.
10. Keep a hold queue going at my public library. Done.
11. Read every day. Done.
12. Read some more. In-process.

Oh, wait, you want to stop having 'too many books'?

There's no such thing as too many books.

No, I do *not* have a problem.

You have all scared me! I only have about 10 with 2 of them under pre-order and will be available in May. I have only had my nook since December. The one good thing is that I have one whole wall in my "room" that is empty now because I donated all the hard covers and paperbacks to the library. I love to read and I guess that is a good habit.

I just finished organizing all of my ebooks into Calibre last week. I have 96 read, and 745 unread. So at about 12 per month, I have 5 years worth of reading available currently. I also download a lot of ebooks from the library. I don't anticipate ever catching up.

Great isn't it... I'd hate the idea of ever catching up and expect to have to have an ereader prised out of my fingers when I depart...

Now the first step in our program is to face up to reality... Step One: Say to yourself, "I am a bookaholic and I do not have a problem... it's the rest of the non-readers that do!" Step Two: Ensure that you never run out of something to read... Step Three: Keep on reading.

See, no problem after all.

Wait... I though Jane Austen books were just for collecting, like ridiculously expensive old wine. People actually read them?!
