No problem. I'm right there with you. Last time I tried it wiped my device clean. Grrrr

Well I've connected to Wifi and disconnected from the Wifi more than 50 times now and still nothing. This is pretty tedious. How likely is this to actually update?!

For non-borders / non-redgroup retail Wifi eReaders, we will be increasing the upgrade rollout to 100% very soon (in the next day or so).
Borders US updates should be rolling out (Also at 100% I believe, but less sure about that number) in the next couple of days as well. Redgroup needs to review / approve the update before we roll it out to Australian buyers. Sorry, I had been very busy but I thought I'd drop by and let you know of these developments. I will come by and update if there is any change to the above. |

For the record, I just did a sync (to the desktop app through USB) and got the update. It seemed to update with no problems. I like the "close book" (from within the book) or "remove from list" from the "I'm Reading" home page.

As for the 1.9 update, it's definitely been an improvement for me. The update process went without a hitch, and even kept the places in all my open books. The ability to manage (close) books is a great improvement, and I also like being able to jump to pages or chapters within a book now. I do have one question: it was my understanding that after leaving the Kobo (I have the Kobo Wireless) alone for 15 min, it would go into sleep mode, and after 30 min would automatically power off. (Or you also have the option to quickly press the power button to put it to sleep, or press & hold for 2 seconds to turn it off.) But mine only seems to go to sleep automatically, it doesn't turn off automatically. I ask because it seems that sleep mode will drain the battery if left for a few days, so it's better to turn it off overnight (unlike my Kindle, which is supposed to stay in sleep mode most of the time). |

I don't see any drop in battery for sleep mode. It seems pretty good on my literati even with the LCD screen.

Woohoo!
![]() IIRC unlike the original Kobo, the Kobo Wifi only auto-sleeps, and doesn't auto-power-off. Some people didn't like coming back to a long bootup. |

Ah, thanks for the info. Must have read something about the original Kobo and gotten that confused. But seeing how much the battery drops when asleep, I see why Kobo did that. I still plan on shutting it off completely overnight, but it's probably better to give the user control over it.

I have a Jinke Hanlin and it lasts 3 to 4 weeks using sleep mode. I never bother turning it completely off.

Firmware revisions
I have both as well. My older non-wifi Kobo received a firmware update after the wireless unit was released bringing it to v1.8. I suspect the last non-wifi Kobos being sold off received the firmware update from the factory. I was told at one point that there is likely to be another firmware update for the non-wifi Kobos but don't hold my breath while waiting.
