LOL! About 10 years ago, when I was much younger, I went to this trendy shop. You know, decided to splurge in an expensive salon. Everyone raved about it, etc. Two hours of listening to this crack-addict looking woman yammer non-stop later, she finally let me see. I went into shock, then started laughing. I had this big teased beehive like in that movie "Hairspray!" needless to say, she didn't get paid for wasting 2 hrs of my life. I went to work like that the next day in order to share the jocularity, then combed it out and shampooed all that gluey hairspray out in the ladies room. My only regret is that I didn't get a photo of it!

I have the longest hair of my life now. It is halfway down my back, and I get to be all girly with it. It has not been cut since I stopped working.

Speaking of hair, I've been seeing some freaky mullets this weekend. Indy car racing begins this weekend in B'ham, and NASCAR begins next weekend at Talladega. I had to pop into the grocery store yesterday for mushrooms, and it was like a circus sideshow in there.

Which came first: The "Mad Max" leather gear then mullet, or did they grow the mullet and buy the ensemble to accent the hairdo?

When I was in school some of my friends went for the mullet, I decided a mohawk was the right answer, blue! Really I'm not kidding, a blue mohawk and combat pants, needless to say I didn't form that special bond with a young lady until the hair grew out

Now I just buzz it all off, wait 3 weeks and repeat, I can do it myself in a bot 10 minutes if I'm real careful. The first time I did it I cut it in a mohawk, scared the hell outta my wife, while she was deciding if she should pack or not I cut the rest

I'm hopeless. I love the mullet hairstyle. I know, I know...

Chris has had three hairstyles since I've known him. When I met him and married him, he had hair longer than mine (which is to say nearly to his waist) Long, thick, and incredibly sexy (yeah y'all probably didn't need that last part...) His nickname when I worked at Jewel was "Shel's rockstar husband." Think Chad Kroeger (of the band Nickelback) with longer hair.

Then he started applying for IT jobs and cut it - slightly longer than traditional business length, and it curled! (It always was wavy). I thought I'd hate it, but ... nope. Actually I liked it better, because I could play with his hair without being scared of scalping him by getting my rings caught. Now it is business short - and I still love it.

My own hair is a constant battle. I'm at the age where if I leave it alone, it goes gray. Then I look twenty years older than I am. I hate short hair on myself, but long, gray, hair on me starts to look like the stereotype of a wicked witch! So I color it. I used to go for the reds (I always wanted red hair), but now prefer golden brown with blonde streaks. It's about down to the middle of my back right now, with sideswept bangs in the front. I can put it up or leave it down; depends on what I'm doing and how lazy I am that day, LOL. The only problem with bangs is that they have to be maintained, and I'm one of these people who goes to a salon maybe twice a year, if that.
