The RED stands out whereas the wine detail seems lost.

Yeah. I have one on its way to me and a Kindle 3.
The K3 is better for travel. Yup it is. Ummhmmm. that is my story I looked at the Cloud Dragon cover and I really prefer it as a sleeve then a cover. Something about how it wraps around is just perfect. |

Have you tried the M Edge professional? It's quite a sturdy and well constructed case, with a strap to keep the whole thing closed. I have one, and it's almost too big and bulky - so it might be just the thing for your hazardous bag? Do you happen to be a student and carry textbooks in your bag? If so, have you thought about changing bags to one with an outside pocket where you can slip more delicate items like a phone or kindle? If you're careful to set the bag down with the "delicate" side out, it might preserve the life of your Kindle longer? Just a thought. My eldest is in college and her bag full of textbooks can be a menace. |

To add to what Sashagregor says, I was thinking you might want to hollow out a thick book and place it inside. Give it a bit more cushion.

I ended up getting an Incipio Kaddy. My Kindle doesn't get a lot of abuse, so hopefully this case will provide adequate protection in my bag. I was looking into Oberon cases, but the price is a bit too much of a premium.
http://www.myincipio.com/Amazon-Kind...ylon-Folio.asp Update: Received it today and like it a lot. The Kindle slides into the slots from the top and it is held securely. The cover folds back nicely and the strap also slips around the cover when you're reading. Not too heavy and the front and back feel very sturdy. The case doesn't block any of the buttons or ports and actually makes pressing the page-turn buttons easier. It feels and looks like a nice journal or planner cover. I decided based on another user's review here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=122082 Last edited by metoo999; 04-09-2011 at 04:24 PM. |

The nice thing about the Kindle is that we have a ton of cover options. Not all e-readers can say the same.

As someone who likes function-over-form and doesn't really care for £30+ pretty cases, does anyone know if there's such a thing as a gel case with a screen cover perhaps (not one of those stick-on abominations though!)
I've just bought a Kindle3G (well 3 actually!) after using my Mum's Kindle3 and have been looking at £4 cases from ebay China, does anyone have an opinion, are they suitable, any obvious problems? First one is a basic neoprene like my netbook cover, second is a hard case. Last edited by sej7278; 04-11-2011 at 02:37 PM. |

I plan on taking my Kindle to China when I visit this summer, where the device will be placed into a backpack with other things like camera, water bottles etc..
What case would best protect the kindle and especially the screen given what I described? Thanks. |

My K1 in an Oberon did just fine traveling in a back pack through Australia and New Zealand but that was on airplanes, in cars, and that type of thing.
If you are talking about backpacking as in everything in the backpack and camping, I have no idea what would be good. You would want something lighter then an Oberon to save on weight. |

While it may seem klutzy, check out how resistant to twisting an 1/8 inch thickness of plywood appears. Band or tie the kindle to the board on the screen side. It should keep protruding objects from pressing on the screen, and, again, I don't recall how rigid 1/8" ply is.

The point is though, that most people who are shelling out the big bucks for Oberon are doing so because they like the aesthetics of it. I should be getting mine today or tomorrow. So excited. |

Another approach to Kindle covers
I had fun making my Kindle cover.
Purchased a used book from the library's store, ripped out the content, and refurbished the inside. Inserted a thin aluminum sheet punctured to hold the elastic band corners. Decorated the outside with some stik-ons that make it look like a kind--ergarden book. Book is protected, and no one will break into my car to steal it. Almost left it on a coffee shoppe table once, but someone said, "Hey you left your book." |
