Playing Doom II on the PocketBook 360

There have always been games for the PocketBook 360 but now someone has ported Doom II for the smallest of PocketBooks ereaders(so it should run on the 301 as well

or for that matter any of the later netronix clones)

I already wanted one of these. Now I know it can play games? And Doom II no less? I think I need one of these now.

Oh, wow. If they can put Wolfenstein 3D on there, too, I'll pick up 4 of them.

I hate to be a party pooper, but this is talking about a PB 360 Plus. The article goes on to say:

"Here’s something interesting. The developers over at PocketBook ported a version of the video game Doom 2 to run on an updated version of the PocketBook 360, called the PocketBook 360 Plus.

Information about the PocketBook 360 Plus is scarce at this point, but the video below shows some of its potential. It is presumably equipped with an E Ink Pearl screen and a new Freescale processor to achieve frame rates for video games."

And since there's no word on this mysterious 360 Plus, who knows if/when it will ever be available. But since the video shows the same form factor (presumably keeping the snap-on cover), it should be pretty sweet when/if it is released.

All true.
But the whole 360-Plus thing is out of left field itself.
The PB Roadmap going back over a year has generally referred to the eventual 360 follow-up as a 501, not a 360-plus.

So take the video with a big pinch of salt.
It may just be an engineering prototype/demo; the equivalent of the PB901 we saw for months, with its decent ergonomics, only to be replaced by an entiirely different form factor and casing in the final product.

As much as I would want to see the current 360 casing/cover retained in the follow-up (but with floating buttons replacing the butterfly wings), I'm not holding my breath. Odds are about even that it will look like a mini version of the 6xx/9xx series.

Doom was the only computer game, other than Solitaire, that I ever played for more than a few moments total as in ever. So this thread needs a bump back to the top because this is such a cool thing!

Nah, it runs smothly on a 386 DX... with some FPS drop when a lot of IMP's start shooting firebals from everywhere
