They are suggesting that the inner growth area is over 8,000 years. Personally, I don't think anything can be older than my second grade teacher, Miss Olliphant. She was REALLY ancient and smelled like flowers.

Correct, Stitchawl. it is, of course, Miss Olliphant.

I was thinking of the Bristlecone Pine, I wasn't aware of this creosote bush. Either way, you must be correct. Take it away.

I only learned about the creosote bush age last year. Apparently it was discovered in the early 80's but it took me 30 years to catch on... Up until last year I thought it was the Bristlecone pine too, and lost $5 in a game of Triva.

But... there is a Aspen stand in Utah that they now believe to have begun over 10,000 years ago... each tree a clone of the next, and covering 106 acres! However, this is not one single organism.

OK... Question:
Why do most Chinese homes have their entry-ways at 90 degrees to the rest of the house, or at least have some sort of wall structure facing the door so people must turn when they enter? (i.e Feng Shui entry)

Pooh comes pretty close... If someone could extrapolate Geoff's answer and Pooh's answer, then add in a more religious idea....

It IS correct Feng Shui, but the chicken got the correct answer. As everyone knows, evil spirits can only travel in straight lines. They can't turn corners. So making the entryway to a home or office have a bend, or cause the entering people to turn, prevents this evil spirits from getting in. Personally, I think that's pretty clever!

Pooh, give us a question!
