Apple Sues Amazon over "App Store" Trademark

So can we expect Apple to complain about Amazon selling iPads and iPods ?

Drat! Wodin is a nuts and bolts factory in OH. If I want to TM it, I'll have to sell a different product; and in any case the domain name is taken.

I was able to snag "wodin.us" though.

Companies like Apple and Amazon tend to be pretty practical about these disputes-they don't generally let them affect other parts of their business relationships, or take emotional stances about them (unlike some of their users )

Sorry, this is a cheap shot by amazon. They're appropriating a better known brand, counting on apple to sue them so they get some free publicity. But since apple is evil, it's okay, right?

I know you are kidding, but a really crazy tax protestor, Ed Brown, did actually try and trademark this name, Ed of the family: Brown (I think that is how he did it). He was the nut up in NH that kept the cops at bay for i9 months.

Oh please what a load. "App" is a generic word used by tons of people Apple needs to get over itself. They will still sell iwhatever to millions of people and the apps to boot so this law suit is just plain stupid.

I understand Apple making a big deal about the "i" letter but this one i find to be embarrassing. How would Apple like if Microsoft would trademark things like they do....
I mean does Apple have the impression they are the 1st to come with the App word....

That Apple thinks they own the word "app" (short for application) is the most absurd thing since 2004 when Donald Trump tried to trademark the phrase "You're Fired!" And that, in turn, was the most ridiculous idea since the 1950s, when Mr. Mxyzptlk attempted to copyright the alphabet. (Thank God Superman found a way to send him back to the 5th dimension, or we'd be paying royalties on everything we write even now.)

Wonder what would happen if someone got Steve Jobs to say "Apple" backwards?

Word is the name of the software. Entirely different.

Well now, that's the point, "app store" isn't a brand. It's a storefront that sells applications. I think the generic term "app store" is appropriate, regardless of the merchant.

Actually they did try to a few years back and where denied.
