Yes, it is the Kindle 2 Platform cover. Mine is the synthetic version, but M-Edge has some of the leather versions left on clearance:

http://www.medgestore.com/products/kindle2-platform.psp

The 950 is pretty close in size to the Kindle 2 and it is very stable in the Platform cover. It doesn't move at all. For whatever reason, M-Edge doesn't make 950 specific covers, and I'm not sure about the other covers, but they could easily continue to produce the Platform cover and market it for the 950.

Cover for prs950

I bought the sony cover with the light but within a month one of the pins broke.

My wife who owns the Nook Color told me, in her ignorance, to try the cover for the Color Nook since the two of them looked the same size...

Two months later the leather cover is still on my 950, the book fits within the clips perfect and is held in place as good as a nook, none of the controls are hidden.

Best feels to a cover I have had.

Thanks all! The m-Edge cover pictured above does indeed work well (just got it) and at $25 is a good deal. It's sturdy and protects the reader well, so for most potential applications I'm very happy with it. The only downer is that, with the cover on, the reader can no longer fit in my jacket pocket. This is mainly because of the book-light attachment area down one side.

m-Edge do make a more low-profile cover (which I tried at the store) but the PRS-950 doesn't fit in that one. I forget the model of the cover. Guess I'll have to stick with this cover for now. Perhaps I'll get a book light for it and it'll become my reading-in-bed-cover.

I just purchased a PRS-950 today and was wondering the same thing about a potential case. The M-Edge jacket looks really nice, and I think I'll give it a shot too . The size really is nearly identical between the kindle 2 and 950 (as far as my research took me anyways); I would have never guessed without this threads' help!

Seeing as how I was really set on a case with a built-in light, I was glad to see that there is an optional clip-on light that you can buy for the M-Edge. The features are actually quite impressive, spec-wise. http://www.medgestore.com/products/k...natortouch.psp

It's got 3 brightness settings, bendable steel neck, and an automatic timer that shuts it off after 60 minutes (the most surprising feature, really). This case + light combo might even be better than the official Sony case, thanks for the find guys!

I've also heard the M-Edge Executive case for the e-ink Nook fits the PRS-950 quite well.

Here's a visual comparison of the physical dimensions of the PRS-950, the Kindle 2 and the Nook:

I was curious about that (I was using the same website for the comparison, very useful, btw), would the nook cases be too tight? Kindle 2 cases be too loose?

Still, I gunned for the Kindle 2 case for the simple fact that there isn't a Platform case for the Nook
Hopefully it fits snugly enough. If not, I guess using a little bit of velcro is always an option .

There's a post somewhere on the forum where someone posted decent quality photos of a 950 in a kindle 2 platform cover. Shouldn't be too hard to find but from memory it appeared to fit quite well. Haven't heard any negative reports. If you like the platform cover it seems like a fairly safe option.

LOL. Yeah, I'm not too worried about the cover fitting well enough.

As an off-topic side-note, there is good news and bad news regarding my recent purchase of the PRS-950, (if anyone cares )...

The bad news, the seller realized as he/she was testing the unit before shipping that it was frozen and unresponsive (even after soft/hard resetting it) !

The good news? The seller is attempting to have the unit replaced/fixed by Sony and is going to offer me a (unknown as of yet) lower price than what I was going to pay!

I'm not sure whether to curse my luck or praise it...a similar event involving a purchase of a new monitor happened on my PREVIOUS eBay purchase a few weeks ago (but instead of a lower-priced replacement, I was offered a bigger monitor at a STEAL)...

But back on topic, my Platform case + touch light are on their way now...but they are going to be lonely for a little while.

I'd say praise it... I love saving money like that.. hopefully they'll give you a decent discount. I got $70 off a fridge that was delivered to my house recently because I noticed a small dent on one side, at the bottom towards the rear, where no one is ever going to see it I always consider those unexpected discounts a win.

In other news I just purchased this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Cover-Up-Sony-PR...1#ht_600wt_767

Just seemed a little more secure. I can be rather careless at times so security was an important factor for me :P

That looked like a decent enough cover. I wasn't sure whether the go for a "secure" or "flashy" route when deciding on my cover, at first. I eventually caved on flashy .

Although...the looks aren't all that bad with your cover. I guess in the end, I just wanted something I can prop up easily. There aren't many covers that can do that, so I can't be too picky regarding that.

I'm wondering how comfortable/annoying it might be trying to hold a cover that opens vertically rather than horizontally...I guess I'm going to find out.

Oberon has just introduced sleeves for e-reades. They say that the sleeve that fits the K1 and K2 will fit the 950. This makes sense since the keyboard adds space making the K1/K2 similar in size to the 950.

Oberon makes some VERY beautiful looking covers and sleeves...
Too bad they are way out of my price range.

I am buying a K3 and will pick up the sleeve.

I need the K3 for travel, yeah that is it, yup, travel. It will fit better in my bag then the DXG. Yup umm hmmm.

In all seriousness, the Oberons are expensive but they are gorgeious and do a wonderful job of protecting your device. I have the Red Sky Dragon for my K1 and the Purple Sun for my DXG. I'll be picking up the Cloud Dragon for the K3 (yes I am really buying one).

I know folks who ask for one as a gift and that works out well. It is another option for folks out there and the sleeves seem to be a better fit then the other options.
