I think most people feel that way before they get an ereader. The stories still read the same though believe it or not. Although Ill never switch fully to digital, I cant seem to convince myself that I own digital files. Plus once I finish my e.m.p. generator e-readers will be useless.

Although, I have no idea what would bring them here, I can see why they'd stay. A non-e-book reader can still get a lot out of Mobileread, just from the Reading Recommendations sub-forum. There is also the Writers' Corner. This is a really nice place to get info on whatever you read, however you read. |

Never before have I spent money better! I am a member of a board for classic literature and known there for my fierce love of books bound in a specific manner, with special paper, by special publishers etc. They were short of peeing their pants when I was converted to ereading that fast and forcefull ![]() Since last August I haven't looked back, read a pbook or missed the reading experience of pbooks. They are beautiful and I like to look at them now. I don't think I'll ever go back. Just try it. There is nothing to loose if you don't like it, but a lot to gain if you do! |

This week I've bought two books via the internet from independent bookstores (out of print academic works, one second-hand), two books from a local store in a national chain and two books on my Kindle that weren't even available here.

Sadly, we don't really have a local and independent bookstore, except for the two used bookstores and a small francophone-only bookstore (I might read two or three French-language books in a year, so that's not a big draw). I will admit to price-checking books in the bookstore from my Kindle. If it's available and cheaper in the e-book version, I'll likely go that way, particularly with books that I'm just picking up for fun or specifically for my teaching. I'm tired of replacing paperback books for the classroom every few years so this is a plus for the e-reader! |

Curiosity, obviously and what's wrong with that ?

Your question is as relevant as asking a passionate reader of newspapers what the heck he/she is doing checking out news online ... Another answer would be: expanding your horizons and again, what's wrong with that ? Quote:

Well I enjoy reading the paper format of books, but one day I'd like to perhaps venture into the electronic format. I never said I have no interest at all, it's just that I'm so used to paper books it will take me a while to get used to a different format but I'm curious to try it out.

I wouldn't waste my time spying on anyone, it's too much effort and I have no reason to partake in that.

I'm just here out of curiosity and the curiosity to eventually try out electronic books... or is something wrong with that? |
