So-- you are arguing that education should be lowered to the least common denominator that even a preschooler can learn?

Cursive writing evolves over and over throughout history in various writing systems because cursive is easier to write, and allows faster writing with less fatigue-- lifting the pen(cil) from the paper for each character (sometimes several times inside each character) slows down writing, and increases work. I still find it surprising that anyone who knows how to write in cursive actually prefers print when writing anything longer than a handful of words.

I've been going through piles of old family records lately, and there have been lots of kept cards, letters, notes, etc from various people, plus messages written in old school yearbooks. Examples of writing from several dozen people. Not a single one of them was written in print.

I wish that my penmanship was today as good as when I was much younger.

One does forget some of the 'arts' that were important years ago.

Cheers
